Junior Nestle Obituary

Junior "Jay" Lewis Nestle was born on September 28, 1937 in St. Louis, Michigan to Earl and Rose Nestle. He died on January 19, 2017 in Colorado Springs, Colorado at his home.

Jay was a meat cutter and jerky craftsman. He and his wife loved to wow houseguests and friends with many culinary delights. As a Denver Broncos fanatic, Jay daily sported Broncos gear and has a vast collection in his "Dog House." Jay loved big with an infectious laugh and huge heart that would lead him to give you the shirt off his back if needed.  A lover of all things John Wayne, he also enjoyed playing cribbage, telling jokes, and fellow shipping with friends at the YMCA. He was International Moustache Champion in the early 70's and wore that handlebar moustache on and off for several years.

Raised in Michigan and Ohio, Jay traveled around the country until planting roots in Colorado Springs in 1976. Jay joined the Air Force in 1957 and was trained as a Jet Engine Mechanic.  He was an entrepreneur, and throughout his endeavors, he displayed an amazing work ethic that he passed on to his children. Jay knew how to play well, too, instilling a love of motorcycles, cars, and just sheer joy of living with all who spent time with him.

He is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Donna Nestle; three sons, Ron (Carrie) Nestle, Jay (Lisa) Nestle, and Jim (Kim) Nestle; three daughters, Laura Sheffer, Carin Kelly, and Tracy Baker; a sister, Marge Marsh; and his fourteen grandchildren.

I have a lot of good memories of Grandpa; from being amazed at his movie and Broncos collection in his basement to the high anticipation of receiving his delicious jerky. I will miss you, Grandpa and I will think of you often. Grandma is so strong and is surrounded by loved ones, both in person and in spirit. Rest in peace. Love always, Danielle

My condolences, thoughts and prayers to you and your family.
Jim, it is easy to see the positive influences conveyed by your father to you.
As time passes you will discover when you least expect other unique and endearing qualities in your life that are gifts from your father and mother.
