Karen Bennight Obituary

Karen M. Bennight, beloved wife, mother and friend passed away peacefully on Feb 17, 2017 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was born in Wichita, Kansas Jan 26, 1966 an only child of Phyllis and the late Raymond Paz.

Since Karen's father was in the Air Force she started elementary school in California, then moved to England where she completed her education. After finishing school she found her calling working in the Civilian Personnel office for the Department of Defense. Karen later on started to work for the Department of Defense Schools and finished her career there.

In April of 1985 she met her future husband William G. E. Bennight III (Bill) at RAF Lakenheath and were married in June of 1986. In 1988 both Karen and Bill transferred to Okinawa, Japan where their first child Billy was born. In 1992 they all transferred back to England where their second child Alicia was born. Ending her husband's Air Force career in 2005, Karen and her family moved to Colorado Springs. Family and Friends were extremely important in her life and as her Mother had followed her to Colorado, Karen decided at this time to hang up her Department of Defense Schools hat and put on her, as she referred to it "Domestic Goddess apron".

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, devoted husband, William G. E. Bennight III (Bill); loving children, William G. E. Bennight IV(Billy); Alicia C. M. Bennight both of Colorado; her loving mother Phyllis E. Paz as well as a host of wonderful nieces, nephews and loving friends.

The Memorial Service will take place this Sunday, Feb 26, 2pm at the Mountain View Mortuary, 2350 Montebello Square Drive, Colorado Springs. All friends and family are invited to attend.

Ah Karen, you are in my thoughts so often. You know how you would show up at my house when we were kids, stay for a few days and then be gone again? Well one of the times after you left, I found a doll with long, thick, light brown hair and the greenest eyes, just like you. I bought her and named her My Karen Doll I kept her up until a few years ago when I read about attachment. I then donated her to kids that had to leave all of their things behind when removed from domestic violence situations. I knew how much joy she would bring to others and knew it was time to pass her on. Selfishly, I wish I had kept her, more so, I wish I could have kept you. I love you so much.

Ah Karen, you will be so greatly missed. I just have to think of you as I do my brother: I'll just have to allow myself to know that although you are not out there somewhere, now you, our dads and my brother are EVERYWHERE! I love you so much my dear... I'm going to finally meet your babies, somehow, you're going to have to let us know that you are there with us. It's not good bye, I'll see you again.

Karen was truly one of the most special people I have ever met. She had such a sweet, caring nature and the kindness which she showed towards others was beyond compare. If anyone could be called an Angel on Earth Karen was truly such a person.
My thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends. Her Husband Bill, Children Billy and Alicia and Mother, Phyllis have a hard road ahead without her but I know that she will be watching over them as she always has.
God Bless You Karen, you will be sadly missed
