Karen Cogdill Obituary

Karen Cogdill, a resident of Colorado Springs since 1987, passed away on July 17, 2014. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.

Karen Ruth Asher was born on May 15, 1945 in Durango, Colorado to the late Richard and Ruth (Shirley) Asher. She graduated high school in Buena Vista, Colorado and attended Adams State in Alamosa. After college, she relocated around the country, and eventually found her way back to Colorado in 1987, settling in Colorado Springs.

Karen was very active at Anchor Way Baptist Church in Colorado Springs, where she volunteered with the Children's Ministry and Vacation Bible School. She enjoyed being outside, gardening and camping, and was known to her children as having the most fantastic cooking skills. Above all, she was a loving mother and friend to many.

She is survived by her two children: Cindy (husband, Rick) Marshall of Union City, Michigan; and Brett Asher of Colorado Springs; her grandchildren: Ashly, Phillip, Tiffany, Victoria, Amber, Gemma, and Orion; and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her dear friends, Bettie and Bob Bowren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Robert; her sister, Sharon; and a great-granddaughter, KyLeen.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at 6:00 in the chapel.

Cindy: We knew your Mom and you when we were stationed together with you with the Air Force in Okinawa. She was a wonderful woman and good friend. We tried to look you up when we returned to the States but lost the address book. Very sad to see your Mom gone - Wish we could have reconnected sooner. You might remember Dave and Chris our two kids - both now married. SunHee Kohari

I thank God for putting Karen in our lives. She loved God, loved Anchor Way Baptist Church, and those children she ministered to. Will always remember her smile and enthusiasm. Love you, Karen, and will meet again.
