Karen Marie Dalby, age 80, of Colorado Springs, Colorado passed away August 25, 2021 peacefully and in the comfort of her home and surrounded by her family and pets, Batman the cat and Ozzy the pug.

She was born November 14, 1940 in Los Angeles, California to Vernon and Dorothy Tovatt.

Karen Dalby graduated in the class if 1958 from San Marino High School. She went on to earn her Bachelor's degree in Psychology at Colorado College where she met the love of her life, Dale Galvin Dalby. She was very proud to be a substitute teacher in the public schools. She was involved in saving animals through Best Friends Animal Society and in her personal life always helped any animal in need. She found her passion in painting. She worked in all mediums but her favorites were water color and acrylic.

Karen Dalby was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Dorothy Tovatt, her husband, Dale Galvin Dalby, and beloved horse, Joby.

She is survived by her half-brother, Richard of Nevada, her daughter, Anne Schaff, her son, Alan Dalby and his partner Travis Miller who all still reside in Colorado Springs. Karen is also survived by her grandson, Tanis Schaff of Fountain, Colorado.

Karen Dalby was so much more than just the facts listed above, she was an amazing and cherished daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and pet mother. She was friendly to all and always offered kind words and positive vibes, always wishing to heal others in any way she could. Everything about her was giving and pure and she always did her best to help those in need whether they be human or animal. She brought light into every room she entered and she always surprised you with her unconventional answers to every question because her mind and way of thinking was so unique. We will all miss seeing things through your wonderful and intuitive perspective on life. You will be deeply missed!!!

The Dalby/Schaff family wish to extend their gratitude to Jane Stilley of Houston, Texas, Karen Dalby's longest and closest friend, for coming out to Colorado Springs to say a final goodbye and reminisce of their childhood accomplishments. Thank you, Jane for offering emotional assistance and friendship to all of us all along the way.
