Ray Karen Hatfield, known as Karen, passed away peacefully on January 16 at 2:08 am, in her home of 27 years, in Monument, Colorado. Karen lost a 20 month battle with brain cancer.
Karen was born April 22, 1957, in San Francisco, California to Fredrick W. and Donna S. Klindt. She grew up on a farm in Bozeman, Montana.
In June of 1976 while doing mission work among poor street children in the Bahamas she met Max Hatfield. October of 1977, Karen and Max married near Santa Barbara, California. They spent most of their 43 years together doing missionary work in restricted countries like the former Soviet Union, China, Mongolia during the cold war era and for the past 30 plus years making a difference in Turkey.
Karen is survived by her husband Max Hatfield, Sons Benjamin and Wesley Hatfield, daughter Emily Smith, son-in-law Stuart Smith and two grandsons Bear and Koa Smith, as well as her parents Donna Klindt and Irvin Dellinger, and numerous step siblings. There are also many nieces, and nephews- all of whom love their aunt Karen very much! Her friendships and influence literally span the globe.

Thinking of you , your family, and your Mom today. Can't imagine the joy you feel in Christ presence and in the company of your mom and dad.

I remember Karen's indomitable joy in serving the Lord in any and every circumstance and her example as a loving and devoted wife and mother. May perpetual light shine upon her, may she rest in peace and may the Holy Spirit comfort Max and the boys and their families.

so sorry to know Karen has left this earth. I met her when touring with Max to Turkey. She was a sweet lady and I know she will be missed. May the Lord help you Max as you miss her.

My condolences to your family. Such peace and trust in our Savior. Karen's courage is outstanding. She lived fully and leads all of us in how to follow Jesus. May God surround each family member with love and peace.

At The Door

Standing at the threshold
I’ve glimpsed an open door
Which leads to realms of Life and Light
Unlike any seen before.

I’ll soon be stepping through it;
I’ve one foot poised to go.
Yet earthen mem’ries tug me back,
For I cherish these ones I’ve known...

But Jesus’ Love, much greater still,
Draws me through the door—
Oh! I MUST go embrace Him;
My Shepherd who’s gone before!
