Karen Parker Obituary

Karen Jane Parker, 62, died in her home in Hawthorne, California on April 2, 2016. She was born October 19, 1953 in Fremont, Michigan to Frank and Yvonne Parker.

Karen attended Fremont High School and Western Michigan University graduating with a degree in Drug Abuse Rehabilitation. She worked as a counselor in many different capacities throughout her life. She resided in Colorado Springs, Colorado from 1983 to 2015 raising her family there. She was a gifted artist, especially enjoying painting and pottery.

She is survived by her daughter Katherine Topping and husband Joseph of Ranson, West Virginia and daughter Emily Cowan and husband Rory of Williston, North Dakota. She is also survived by 6 beloved grandchildren Caleb, Clay, and Adelaide Topping and Haley, Owen, and Connor Cowan, sister Kathryn Parker and brother Frank Parker, former spouse Douglas Baker, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was proceeded in death by her mother Yvonne Parker in 2007, her father Frank Parker in 1962 and brother Donald Parker in 1964.

Memorial services will take place in Fremont, Michigan this summer.

So sorry for this loss to our family, one so young. She is honored in our family branch for her caring and sharing at the funeral of Victor V. Valentine Sr. in 1976! Also her memory is treasured for her artistic abilities, re: amazing wall decorations for my twin grandsons in Colorado. May you rest in eternal peace, Karen.
