Miss you, Kathy. Colorado doesn´t feel the same without you to visit.

I was so saddened to hear of Kathy's passing. I always thought there was time to go to Colorado again and see Kathy and Jerry. I was wrong. I am so glad Steve got to visit her in September. It was a wonderful thing to know Kathy and be a part of her life. She frequently gave me good advice in teaching, and I was so delighted when she asked me to team teach with her. It added such a new dimension to my teaching days to have someone to share ideas and concerns about individual children. When I retired from Lewis Palmer and taught in an Orthodox school where the class I had was famous for causing teachers to resign with tears of frustration, Kathy said Honey, you're teaching there to get your Social Security benefits and don't you forget it! I decided then and there that I would outlast the challenging behavior and it turned out to be my most rewarding years of teaching! I loved those girls and they came to feel sorry for me that I wasn't Jewish. I used that line I am the only one here paid to talk, quite a few times. Kathy had such wisdom and compassion and love. She epitomizes a life well lived.
I loved when she and Jerry came to my beloved island, Prudence Island, where I have now lived for 13 years and to Florida. I still miss Colorado and my friends there, and will always have a hole in my heart where Kathy dwelled.

Kathy had true grit, loved fun and adventure, and yes, always a positive attitude. We all loved her and being around her and Jerry and family.
