Kathleen Anne Saidy passed away surrounded by loving family on December 19. She had fought valiantly through several health problems and is now resting peacefully with the Lord.
Kathy was a lifelong Colorado native, born October 23, 1940 in Colorado Springs. She graduated from St. Mary's High School and went on to get a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Colorado. She also got a B. S. In Nursing from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, followed by a Masters Degree in Public Administration.
Kathy's careers took many turns throughout her life. She was a registered nurse, a lobbyist at the State Capitol, Executive Director and Meeting Planner for the Colorado Pediatric Medical Association, and a realtor with Coldwell Banker Realty. She was president of the Denver Board of Realtors for a term.
In addition to her demanding careers, she was very active in community involvement. She was a mentor in the Making Choices Program at the Denver Women's Correctional Facility, a member of the Board of Directors of Bethany House which provided affordable housing for AIDS/HIV patients, a member of the Board of Directors of the Arapahoe Mental Health Center.
She was deeply involved in her church, singing in the choir, lecturing and cantoring, in addition to facilitating bible studies.
Kathy was a recipient of the Outstanding Alumni Award from the University of Colorado, in addition to being listed in Who's Who Among College and University Students and Outstanding Young Women of America.
Survivors include a brother, Ronald (Barbara), three sisters, Sonia (Tom), Margaret and Linda, 38 nieces and nephews, and 154 great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father Azize, her mother Josephine, and two sisters, Dolores and Patsy.
Services will be held at Our Lady of Loreto Catholic Church on January 4 at 11:00 a.m., followed by a luncheon at the church and burial at Evergreen Cemetery in Colorado Springs.
