Kathryn Peters Obituary

Kathryn Peters, 94, a longtime resident of Colorado Springs died at her home on August 7th 2016. A memorial service will be held Saturday August 13 at 1PM at the First Christian Church, 16 East Platte Avenue with Pastor Gaylord Hatler officiating.

Kathryn was born January 11, 1922 in Robins Iowa to Howard and Hattie Knapp. She was raised in Alburnett, Iowa marrying Frederick Peters on August 24, 1940 in Marion, Iowa. The family moved to Colorado Springs in 1953. They were married for 51 years when Fred died in 1991.

Kathryn worked in retail sales for several years in the high end fashion stores and moved into savings and loans where she worked for 20 years before retiring. She loved to travel and had numerous adventures, visiting all 50 States, Mexico, Canada, and the Caribbean. She enjoyed photography and has a true photographic history of her life filling numerous photo albums. Kathryn also enjoyed ceramics, painting shirts, knitting, and working in her gardens where she had amazing roses.

She was raised with five sisters, three of which survive her. She is also survived by her daughter Kathie (husband Rob) Case, four grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. Kathryn lost her son Gary L Peters to cancer earlier this year.

She was a strong independent woman who lived her life vivaciously. She will be missed so much by all those that loved her. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to the American Cancer Society and the Pikes Peak Humane Society.
