Kathy Conard Obituary

Kathy Conard passed on in peaceful sleep February 15, 2016, at her home, sons by her side; let go with gratitude into welcome embrace returned by her Lord into everlasting Love.

A celebration of the Life of Kathy will be held Saturday, March 5, 2016, at 11:00 AM, at Village Christian Church, 3113 Primrose Road, Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Born March 3, 1925 in Scott City, Kansas, she was a high school honor graduate - the best student and only girl in wood shop class. Married a young sailor and birthed #1 son; came to Colorado Springs in 1953 and married true love. Kathy realized a lifetime being a generous individual of unique character; celebrating nearly 62 years being 29.

While providing safe and secure hearth and home as a single parent of three teenage boys in the 60's through 70's; for more than a decade Kathy also fed hundreds of screaming school children daily, cooking real food fresh as one of the dozen "Lunchroom Ladies of East Junior High". Kathy's well of nourishment for others was overflowing. Overlapping was Kathy's career in communications, begun before college as a telephone operator connecting the party-lines of Western Kansas; Kathy later became known as the nightingale "Voice of Penrose", hosting the hospital switchboard for nearly 30 years.

Proceeded in death also by her daughter, Ruth Annette in 1967 and son Kenton Cecil in 1997; Kathy Conard is survived by son Mark, of Colorado Springs; son Phillip, of Austin, Texas; beloved chosen daughter Gee Denton of Homer, Alaska; Kenton's son Jordan and bride Rachael, great grandsons Christopher, Jacob and Zach; Mark's sons Daniel and bride Christie, great grandchildren Jaydan, Makayla Ruthie, and Avery; and Adam and bride Ashley, great granddaughter Adalyn Faith; Phillip's son, Kiriath Italo; nephew Rick and bride Mary Davis, of Kansas; friends of all ages; and kitty cat Raya – "such a lot of company".

"Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)

Gratitude and appreciation given to the many skilled and compassionate providers of care at The Gardens. Memorial gifts through acts of kindness, or made to enhance the exceptional work of Rocky Mountain PACE.

Dear Mark and Phil,
I will miss Kathy greatly. She always had a smile on her face and would light up when I would greet her on Sunday morns with "Morning Sunshine". I also will miss her and Pop's bantering back and forth. I wonder if they will be doing that in heaven together! Love you guys!

Phillip,
So sorry for your loss. Your mom use to make the ride home very interesting with the car breaking down. I also use to stop and say hi at the hospital when i would go visit dad doing remodeling jobs. Loosing caring parents is the hardest thing we face.
