Kay Ringsred Obituary

Kay Servatius Ringsred passed away April 26, 2009, at her beloved home on Cheyenne Mountain. Kay was born in Roswell, New Mexico to the late Kenneth and Margaret (Bowman) Servatius. She graduated from Colorado Springs High School in 1953, all the while pursuing her career in amateur figure skating. Kay enrolled in Colorado College on an academic scholarship, but she soon received an offer too good to refuse from the traveling show “Holiday on Ice. As a nationally ranked figure skater, she became the lead skater in “Holiday on Ice for five years, traveling throughout the U.S., Mexico and Europe. After retiring from the show, Kay taught and judged figure skating, and modeled for the Alexander Film Company. Always an athlete, she was an accomplished snow and water skier, tennis player, golfer and angler, having been a member of the Broadmoor and Wigwam Golf Clubs and the Colorado Springs Fly Casting Club. Kay is survived by her three children, Tiania (Charlie) Adams of Breckenridge, CO, Michael Tutt of Colorado Springs, Chelle (Lion) Mason of Colorado Springs, five grandchildren, Colby and Duncan Adams, Lion and Eliza Mason, and Chloe Tutt, brother John Servatius, sister Helen Gray, and numerous nieces and nephews. Kay’s beauty, joie de vivre and positive attitude will be dearly missed. A private service will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Pikes Peak Hospice, or the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region.

I looked forward to meeting Kay for the first time at a skater's reunion in 2000. At the dinner party I asked her long-time Holiday On Ice partner Arnold Shoda where I could find her. "Just look for the most beautiful woman in the room," he said. A wonderful tribute to a lovely lady.

Kay was my sister Sheila's role model when they were both young women and skaters. She will be missed by all who knew her. Our sorrow and respect to the fine families she left behind.
