Keith Nygaard Obituary

Keith Nygaard, 23, of Colorado Springs passed away on August 17, 2016 in Arvada, Colorado.

He was born on December 25, 1992 along with his twin sister, Marcia. Keith was a talented musician who loved people, game nights with roommates, working with computers and technological gadgets, and spending time with family.

He lived every moment to its fullest.

From a young age, Keith became involved in music, playing saxophone and guitar in the Jenkins and Doherty jazz bands and guitar and drums in the Doherty marching band and percussion ensembles. During college, Keith performed with the Denver Blue Knights Percussion Ensemble, where he played electric guitar and became a mentor to younger musicians. Last spring, Keith volunteered as the rhythm section instructor for Rise Percussion.

Keith graduated from the Colorado School of Mines in December 2015 with a BS in Electrical Engineering and a Computer Science minor. In January 2016, he began working at Kenzan in downtown Denver as a software developer.

Keith was recently diagnosed with epilepsy after an initial seizure in June and, although on medication, it was a second seizure that took his young life.

Keith will be remembered as a fun-loving, tirelessly upbeat individual who always had a smile and kept people laughing with his antics.

Keith is survived by his parents, Rick and Cheryl Nygaard; brother, Kenneth (Kathryn) Nygaard; sister, Marcia (Konnor) Erdman; grandmothers, Patricia Nygaard, Blanche Fallander, and Donna Fallander; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

A Visitation will be held from 5:30PM-8:30PM on Friday, September 2, 2016 at The Springs Funeral Services - North, Oakwood Chapel, 6575 Oakwood Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80923.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30AM on Monday, September 5, 2016 at The Springs Funeral Services - North, Oakwood Chapel, 6575 Oakwood Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80923.
