Keith Walter Stampher, M.D. died peacefully on July 21, 2025, of bladder cancer. Born in Whitefish, Montana, he grew up in Santa Maria, California and attended Cal Poly State University in San Luis Obispo before attending Vanderbilt University Medical School. He was a general medical doctor and Board Certified in Family Practice and spent 40 years caring for patients in Colorado Springs. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, hiking, camping, river rafting and fishing. In his youth he hiked, and rock climbed frequently in the Sierras.

Dr. Stampher is survived by his wife, Lori and a stepson, Corey, and a son, Joseph Paul Stampher and a daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Stampher Avila, M.D. by previous marriage, with two granddaughters, Daphne and Kalini, and brothers Joseph, Craig, Kevin and Eric. He has been reunited in heaven with his mother and father Joseph & Beatrice Stampher and brother Mark.
He also leaves two cats, which his wife is now obligated to give snacks to every evening.

Leading with his strong faith in the Lord, he was a vital part of the Colorado Springs medical community and touched the lives of many people in lasting and profound ways. Dr. Stampher was a longtime member at St. George's Anglican Church (217 E. Pikes Peak Ave.) His wishes were that in lieu of flowers, the perfect gift for him is that you would visit for Sunday services at 9:00 or 11:00 am, and say a prayer in his memory, and for your own soul and salvation.

He will be laid to rest at a Graveside service, Friday, August 1st, at 2:00 pm at Evergreen Cemetery, 1005 Hancock Expressway, Colorado Springs, CO. There will be no public reception to follow.

Dear Dr Stampher Family, Today we left Dynamic Healthcare and we were crying to learn that Dr. Stampher passed away. We told the staff there that a lot of great people died this summer, but none as great as Doc. He was our Dr for over twenty years and saved us from making bad health decisions especially during COVID. Not only this, but he was a very interesting person who always drew us pictures of what he was talking about, he had a merry heart and sent us away feeling cared for. We surely missed him and will always hold him dearly in our hearts.
We send our deepest condolences to each of you. Take good care of the cat.

Dear Stampher Family,
My husband and myself saw Dr Stampher for over 20 years in his family practice clinic. We remember him humming or whistling a tune in the halls, always listening intently to our health concerns and he always offered a medical perspective and education on whatever ailed us! He was so pleasant all the time. We trusted him with our care and have missed him greatly. He was the Best! Prayers and peace to all of his family.

Dr. Stampher became our family physician over 36 years ago, and we will miss him greatly! Our condolences to his family. One day we'll meet again in our heavenly home, and maybe he'll draw another picture of the human heart, like he did at one appointment. His heart was so kind. Rest in peace.

Doctor Stampher was my family doctor for over 30years. There will never again be anyone like him. I could be really sick and he would have me laughing and feeling better in no time. Keith took care of so many. His sense of humor never ended. His sarcasm was wonderful. His knowledge unlimited. His words will always be sunlight to my heart. You will be missed.

Dr. Stampher will be sorely missed. Based on my interactions with both as a vendor doing business with his practice and as a decades-long patient, I remember his quirky sense of humor, his humming a tune as he entered the room, his warm greeting each and every time I encountered him, and his wealth of advice, which he was always willing to share. We lost a true treasure with his passing and my deepest condolences, thoughts, and prayers go out to his family and friends.
