Keith Wilkinson Obituary

Wilkinson
KEITH A. WILKINSON
December 26, 1974 February 3, 2021
Keith A. Wilkinson, a long-time resident of Colorado Springs, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, February 3, 2021, after a short illness. Keith leaves a wonderful legacy behind in his beloved children, Grant and Grace Wilkinson.
Keith entered this world on Boxing day in 1974 in Youngstown, OH. He had an adventure-filled childhood following his Father's military career around the world, which led him to live in Ohio, Georgia, Virginia, Belgium, Florida and finally settling into life in Colorado.
Keith was a 1992 graduate of Rampart High School in Colorado Springs, where he was the Senior Class President and also an accomplished athlete. He was the 1992 MVP in basketball and an All-State Colorado soccer player for Rampart. He graduated from Regis University and spent his entire professional career in Technology.

His life's passion for youth athletics became evident upon the arrival of his children. He jumped into coaching their competitive basketball and volleyball teams, which brought him immense joy and purpose.
Keith is survived by his son, Grant and his daughter, Grace as well as their mother, Bronwynne Rubley Wilkinson. He is also survived by his parents, Donald and Suzanne Wilkinson, as well as his siblings, Scott (Mindy), Amanda (Carissa) and Katie (Tom) along with aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many treasured friends.
Cremation will take place and a celebration of life will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers and in honor of Keith, donations can be made to the YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region 316 N Tejon Street, Colorado Springs, CO 80903

I am not going to try and blow sunshine at his life or memory. Keith never wanted or needed anyone to do that. The spotlight followed him in whatever he did and wherever he went. Was he perfect? No. But he never bowed in the face of adversity and always seemed to have a smile to pass on to others. He was genuine to himself.
His courage and strength were on full display over the past year as he struggled with illness. I am grateful for his example how he did not go quietly into the night. There is a measure peace to be found in that. I can only grieve his passing and hope that through the lives his children we can see his spark carry on into this world. But I will always wonder what else could have been with Keith with us.

Dear Grant, Grace and entire Wilkinson family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. I have such great memories of Keith playing in the Turkey Bowl laughing, joking and talking trash after the game. We are all saddened by your loss.

I graduated from Rampart with Keith. He was so likeable and always a good guy to be around. I can still picture him wearing a bucket hat to class, and his unforgettable voice and laugh. I was really sad to hear of him passing, and my prayers are with his family.

We weren't close but he sure was one of the nicest people I knew in High School. God Bless y'all and God Bless Keith.

Keith was a supportive and caring parent to Grace and Grant. I observed his joyous spirit and friendly manner when he came to MVES to support them in activities. I know he will be missed by many.

I knew Keith as a loving and supportive parent to Grace and Grant. I was principal at the elementary school where they attended and Keith was often in the school supporting their many activities. His joyous smile and friendly greetings will long be remembered by the staff at MVES.

Keith was one of my (and everyone else’s) favorite person’s to be around in High School, and well after. He thought highly of me as a teammate on the basketball court, but I always respected him more for who he was as a person. I have never met anyone that had a bad thing to say about Keith, and never in my life did I hear him utter anything but love, care, and concern for others in his life. Your entire family is made up of good hearted people. I remember how Keith’s Parents would always have encouraging things to say to me no matter how good or bad I played after a basketball game. It’s no wonder how you all turned out so kindhearted and empathetic.

As much as I want to call him right now and tell him all of this, I know that the only thing I can (and will) do is try to live up to his standard of kindness and empathy for as long as the lord will allow me. We have lost a great human being, but his legacy will live on forever. My thoughts and prayers are with your family in this difficult time. I am sorry for your loss.

Keith and the Wilkinson family were my first friends in Colorado after my family relocated to Colorado Springs from Texas. I will never forget hearing Keith and his siblings playing soccer in their backyard, and me, a lonely kid looking for ANYONE to connect with in a new place, sheepishly asking them if I could join in their play. They welcomed me with open arms, helped me get connected into the local soccer club, and from that point forward, it felt like home. I will always be grateful for that day and our friendship since then. Keith is gone much too soon. My heart breaks for his kids, his family, and his many, many friends he has made over his lifetime. "Eternal rest, grant unto them O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace."
