Kenneth Bowling Obituary

March 11, 1963 - November 6, 2008 Kenneth "Kenny" Bowling passed away peacefully at home in his sleep on November 6, 2008. Kenny was born March 11, 1963 at West Point, Newburg New York. A long time resident of Colorado Springs, Kenny co-owned and operated Elite Auto Service. He was married to Mindy Pierson on February 28, 1986 in Colorado Springs, CO. He is survived by his wife Mindy; his father, Emmitt "Bo" Bowling and his stepmother, Nita; sisters Carolee Goldsmith and her husband Gordon and Tracy Anderson; and brother James Bowling and his wife Kristi; and his dearly loved nieces and nephews and numerous extended family members. He was preceded in death by mother Peggy Hansen and brother Michael Ray. Kenny had several loves in his life with family always as his first priority. Kenny truly enjoyed restoring classic cars; particularly mustangs. Kenny also had a great enthusiasm for boating. He and Mindy shared many peaceful hours together on their boat, as well as enjoying time with friends. Kenny also had an enthusiasm for shooting sporting clays which evolved from his time spent bird hunting with his father in his youth. Kenny will be genuinely missed by all who knew and loved him. A visitation will be held November 11, 2008 from 5PM to 7PM @ Memorial Garden Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 12, 2008 @ 10AM, at Devine Redeemer Catholic Church, 1520 E. Yampa St., Colorado Springs, CO. A contribution in lieu of flowers can be made in Kenny's name to the Boys and Girls Club of Colorado Springs.

Ken is an honest forthright person. I knew him back in high school but when I (re) met him during a time of crisis with my car, it was a God-send. I miss discussing cars and other business interests with him. His kindness and generosity will always touch me.

Native American Prayer, Author unknown

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glint on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you wake in the morning hush.
I am the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft starlight of night.
Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
..
To Mindy and the Bowling/Gillen families you are all in our thoughts. Kenny will always be remembered by me as the boy with the smiling eyes. During our visits to Colorado he would show us "how it's done" in Colorado... He was full of life, love and happiness. This is all so sad and tragic. I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers always.
With Love, and Sympathy......Kenny's cousin, Tara Gillen-Howie

Mindy, my sweet. I know I've been out of the "CO Springs Gang" for a very long time but I've thought about you often over the years, and have missed you very much. I'm devistated to hear of the loss of your love and one of the sweetest people I've ever known in my life. Despite the reasons for all of us losing touch, I had immeasurable fun and happiness in the time we had together. Is there anything I can do for you? Please let me know. [email protected] In NJ now. Craig just got me up to speed. My whole heart goes out to you.

Mindy,
My daughter Kathren told us of Ken's passing. My husband Mike and I are so very sorry. We lived across the street from you and Ken on Lonsdale. Ken was very kind to my daughter Kathren. He was the only good and honest man she would trust her cars to. Words fail me. Know that so many people are thinking of you and remembering your dear Ken.

For Mindy, and all who knew and loved Kenny-

Please accept my deepest condolences for your tremendous loss.

Although its been many years, I remember Kenny as such a bright and kind person. He so loved you Mindy (and loves you still!)

He was so kind to kids, enjoyed cars, and simply loved living life.

I'll always remember his big smile and his kindness to my children.

Unfortunately I won't be able to attend Kenny's Memorial Service, but please know I'm thinking of, and praying for you Mindy-and for all who knew and loved Kenny.

With Love,

As a team mate of Kenny's Dad, Bo, we have known Kenny since he was 6 years old. We never saw him without his big smile and his caring, courteous, pleasant treatment of others. The members of the Ent/ADC softball teams of the late '60s and early '70s and the Carden family will never forget him. He was especially kind and helpful to us. May God give strength to his lovely wife, Mindy, and the Bowling family now and in the future. We miss him greatly.

Ken was a wonderful brother-in-law and a good friend. Sharing family functions with Ken and Minday were wonderful times. Talking about fast cars and making them faster, was something he always wanted to do and took the time to do. He lived life and loved life, and he will be sorely missed. Kenny had so many great sayings, one of my favorites was a car racing saying he used in response to anything involving uncertainty...."when in doubt, give it gas..." There was no uncertainty about his love for Mindy, his love of cars, his love of life. We'll miss you Kenny.
