KENNETH FRANK WIENS
December 13, 1939 July 9th 2019
Ken Wiens went home to be with his Heavenly Father on July 9th 2019. Ken was born on December 13, 1939 in Hanford CA to Jacob and Susie Wiens. He grew up with 2 older siblings Lorraine and Bob. When he was 15 he contracted Polio. This did not stop him though, and he went on to graduate from high school and get his B.S from Redlands University.
After college he went to work at Hewlett Packard and then The Navigators in Colorado Springs, where he set up their computer system and also met his wife Judith Perry. They got married in July of 1969. They then had 2 daughters Mindy and Lori. Ken got a job offer to work for Teacher's Retirement in Oklahoma City. The family lived there for 7 years before Ken got a job back in Colorado Springs working with computers for Fed Ex and then ACSI.
He retired in 2009 and went on to volunteer at the Westside Community Center with the Golden Circle program. He also became a Stephen Minister at his local church. Ken moved from CO to Scottsbluff, NE 3 months ago to be closer to his son-in-law, and granddaughters.
The most important things to him were his faith and his family. He was predeceased by his beloved wife in 2008 and daughter Mindy in 2016, his parents and his brother. He is survived by his daughter Lori, his son-in-law Rob, his four granddaughters Lydia, Danay, Jenju, and Tirzah, as well as his sister Lorraine. He also has many cousins and nieces and nephews. The memorial service will be held on Aug. 10th at 10am at the Woodmen Heights Campus. 8292 Woodmen Valley View, Colorado Springs, CO 80908. In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to be made to the Westside Community Center Senior Programming. 1628 W Bijou St, Colorado Springs, CO 80904.
