When I learned of Kent's passing it hit me really hard. It was because of what a good friend he was to me during my formative years. I couldn't have asked for a better friend during this time in my life.
Most people will probably remember him for being a nice guy or for his artistic talents. He definitely was both of those but the first thing that came to my mind was desire for adventure or thirst for discovery, whatever you want to call it.
After reflecting on it for some time, I guess he was just all of those things. He never had to work at being nice, or artistic, and I think his creative nature made him strive for something different. I owe a lot to him and his family for helping me to become who I am.
My heart goes out to his family because I know that they must have loved him and will miss him more than I do. We drifted apart after high school but I always hoped we would get back together some day. I guess now, I'll have to wait until the Lord calls me home.
