A special thanks to Kevin's cousin in New York, Michael and lovely wife, Anne Goonan for their loving patience's, understanding and graciousness in orchestrating Kevin's funeral.
Kevin was born 6/12/1942 in Brooklyn, New York to William Flynn & Anna Goonan. An only child, he was happy to be considered their #1 Son! He graduated from the prestigious NYC Midwood High School in Flatbush, Brooklyn. He spent many days with aunts, uncles & cousins in Brooklyn, Queens & Massachusetts.
After graduation, Kevin joined the United States Air Force, serving from 1961-65, achieving the rank of Airman 2nd Class. Following his military service, he joined the NYPD, as had his Dad. Soon the wanderlust gene was activated, and Kevin was off to Rochester, NY for a job with Kodak before heading to Colorado Springs, Colorado which became his new home.
This last move became a momentous step in his life's journey... He found a community that allowed his giving spirit and loving ways to flourish...he even fell in love - The Pikes Peak library is where he met, then married his lovely Augusta "Dustie" Gorell and embraced her three children. Dustie & Kevin shared a love for family, reading, music...and supported each other in their Christian faiths & ideals.
Kevin had a giving spirit. He was a Knight of Columbus for 60 years, Grand Knight for three of those; also, a member of the American Legion & a trustee of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles.
It was at Holy Trinity Church that he found a place and meaning. He proudly served as parishioner, Parish Council member, and most profoundly, became a Eucharistic Minister. The highlight of his week was taking communion to the homebound on Wednesday mornings and was quite perturbed when the COVID pandemic interrupted this, worrying about the folks that depended on him for communion, never worrying about himself. Kevin's final gift was of himself when he became a life-saving organ donor.
Kevin loved being a 2nd generation Irishman! He loved his wife. He loved his family. He loved 'the Springs' as he called it - where he found his inner circle of devoted and caring friends. His stories were told sometimes with a 'brogue', sometimes in Brooklyn-ese', always with a delightful smile!
He was a gift to all who knew him. He was a wonderful person who will be loved and missed always.... Until we meet again, Kevin...

Kevin was a good member of the Knights of Columbus. He helped me when I first joined the Knights a few years ago. His work with the Knights really set an example for me. He was one of our active members who worked diligently with our group helping constantly with all various activities. From attending meetings and social activities to religiously helping with Breakfasts and other Church related activities to ensuring our council stayed engaged with our Church. He will be dearly missed.

Sending love and prayers to the Flynn family. I was so sad to see that Kevin had passed.
I met him back in the early 70´s. I don´t even remember where, but he was always the nicest man. I always got a hug and a smile. He was a gentleman and everyone loved him. RIP dear friend.

Dear Flynn Family,
I am deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Kevin . Kevin was more than just a friend to my family; he was a cherished brother and a beloved son to my mom and dad. His bond my family, forged since the early 60s during his time in the United States Air Force, is a testament to the profound impact he had on all of you. Please accept my heartfelt condolences during this difficult time. Kevin´s memory will forever remain in our hearts.
With deepest sympathy,

Casey
