Kevin Otis Obituary

Sept 15, 1959- March 12, 2006. Kevin Richard Otis, 46, was born September 15, 1959 in Colorado Springs and left this world March 12, 2006. Kevin's passion was playing guitar. He played in bands around town for many years (151, Plan 10, The Move). Kevin also enjoyed riding his motorcycle and his fellowship with "AA". Kevin was a kind and gentle son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend with an infectious smile. His gentle curiosity and loyal friendship will be greatly missed. We are thankful that his fight with cancer is over and he is now at peace. Many thanks to all involved in his life and your prayers. Kevin is survived by his father and step mom, Edward and Barbara Otis, Coral Springs, FL; mother, Nancy Otis, Cascade, CO; brothers: Mike, Stephen (Cindy), Edward and Neil, all of Colorado Springs; and Sister Evelyn (Jim) Settler of Colorado Springs; his five nieces and many many friends. Memorial service held Friday, March 17, 2006 at 1 p.m. Swan-Law 501 N. Cascade Ave. Colorado Springs, CO. 80903. Reception to follow. We love you Buddy- Carpe Diem

Kevin was one of he first men to really treat my mother with the respect and kindness she deserved in a relationship. He was a very good man and he will be missed terribly.

Our last memory of Kevin was having gone to a meeting with him. We had taken him back home, said "We love you", and watched to make sure he got upstairs OK. As he started up the last flight of stairs, he paused and turned to wave goodbye through the window. How appropriate! We will never forget your gentle nature. You are in our hearts forever! We look to the day when we see that smile again! Always & Forever!

We were sad to hear of Kevins passing and while his presence will be missed, believe his spirit has truely passed to a much softer place.

Hey Kev -

I didn't get the chance to mention it since I moved back to town, but thanks for the inspiration and memories of the many hours we spent jamming out. It was a blast getting our bands together and playing gigs. It's been an honor knowing the most dedicated player in town. I'll miss you bro...

I was fortunate to have known Kevin. He was very easy going & had a love for music. I first met him in high school when we played in the original 151 band, along with Ted, Doug & Tim. He will be missed by many, many people.

I remember Kevin being with my sons, Ted and Doug, a lot years ago, and his playing in their 151 band. It was a shock to hear that he had passed away. He was always a pleasure to have around.

I have so much to say, this page is not even big enough. So many memories of my best friend and co band mate! His passion for the guitar truely kept us close, even through out the years I have lived in portland Oregon I always kept his friendship close. Stopping in on him from time to time to see how he was doing and what new guitar toys he would have. I have so many pictures of Kevin and the 151 band I should probably open up a web site for one of my truely grestest bands to play in. We will keep 151 going with Kev as our guide when we get too "Boring" as he would say. Hopefully this will bring my brother Doug and me a little bit closer together once again. If anyone would like old pics of the band feel free to e-mail me. Take care Kevin....I know your in GUITAR HEAVEN BUDDY, oh and tell Ron, Guy, Joe and all the other 151 fans and friends that have moved on to a higher being Hi for me. YOUR BROTHER TILL THE END DUDE!!!! TED

The last visual I have of Kevin is of him happily munching on a salad I'd made for dinner one night when we'd have him over. We called, gave him directions, and he showed up about thirty minutes later ready to CHOW DOWN! I made a lot of the salad and bread because I knew he'd eat plenty =) and surely enough, five minutes after his first enormous serving, he was looking around with some alarm and urgency for more. Kevin ate with gusto, he played his guitar with gusto, ferocity even, and he just had one of the most open, accepting, loving spirits. You'll be missed by us, Kevin. We'll keep your red guitar pic and remember you playing happily after attempting to teach the then much-younger Erica some chords; we'll remember you munching happily; I'll remember the last dance I believe I've had with anyone besides Tracy, some years ago...man, you could dance! All good memories of a good man.

I'm a childhood friend of Neil's and I didn't know Kevin personally, but I knew who he was beacuse I would see the entire family when I went to their house to find Neil. I'm sure Kevin is in a better place and his suffering has ended so now he can rest pecefully. The Vigil family sends their condolences to the Otis Family.

Kevin was a joy to be around. He touched my life in so many ways. His smile was infectious and I loved hearing him play his guitars.

I will miss him terribly but I am glad his suffering has ended.
