Mr. Kyle Henry Abernathy, 13, of LaGrange, passed away Friday, July 19, 2013, at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.
Mr. Abernathy was born February 6, 2000, in Troup County, son of Toby Lane Abernathy of LaGrange and Tabatha Sheryl Surgenor Abernathy of Pine Mountain. He was a member of the First Baptist Church on The Square, where he attended the 7th grade boys sunday school class,, he had finished the seventh grade at Long Cane Middle School, He was an active member of several groups and organizations such as, Camp Sunshine, Blue Skies Ministries, Make A Wish Foundation, Lighthouse Ministries, End IT Movements, Team Kyle Racing Teams. He enjoyed many activities, family reunions, bow and arrow, drawing, fishing, camping, skating, riding golf carts, 4-wheeling, reading, playing video games, and going to church then going to afternoon service to Passion City with Chris Tomlin. But most of all, Kyle's focus and goal in life was praying for others, and inspiring others with a beautiful smile, always being happy and positive when for most people it would have been impossible. Kyle's last act of giving continued to the very end by the donation to the Georgia Eye Bank of his big beautiful bright eyes.
Survivors other than his parents include siblings, Brittney and Trey Eslinger, Brett Abernathy, Savannah Owens, Sierrah Abernathy, Kinsey Abernathy, Summer Abernathy, Seth Abernathy, Konnor Abernathy, paternal grandparents, the late Henry and Mary Abernathy, maternal grandparents, Major and Mrs. James J. Pollack, , many aunts, uncles, several nieces and nephews, cousins and very special friends.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday at First Baptist Church On The Square with Dr. Paul Baxter, and Rev. John Oliver officiating. Burial will follow in Shadowlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations be made to AFLAC Cancer Blood Disorder Clinic, 1687 Tallie Circle N.E., Atlanta, Ga., 30329 or to Team Kyle at P.O. Box 515, LaGrange, Ga., 30241.
