Kyle Kennedy Obituary

Cole Kennedy was born on Christmas Day, 1990, and was killed July 14 in an ice avalanche while climbing Pirámide de Garcilaso in the Cordillera Blanca mountain range in the Peruvian Andes.

Cole was an Eagle Scout, and graduated from Rock Canyon High School with high academic honors in 2009. He graduated from Colorado College in 2013 with a B.A. in Physics.

Cole approached rock, ice, and snow with infectious excitement, and was a skilled and accomplished skier and climber. He will be remembered for his quick wit, intellect, and his enthusiasm in encouraging everyone to try harder and give their best.

Cole with be missed by his parents, Jim and Karen, his sister, Quinn, his grandparents, Bob and Ann Kennedy and Connie Howerton, as well as scores of cousins, uncles, aunts, classmates, coworkers, friends, and the mountaineering community.

A casual, outdoors, Cole-like celebration will be held for family and friends on Wednesday, July 30th, at 11 a.m. at the Sanctuary, 7579 Daniels Park Road in Sedalia.

Contributions may be made to the Cole Kennedy Memorial Fund through the American Alpine Club at www.americanalpineclub.org.
