Hey Estrada,
It's been a while. I still think about you often. I miss you bro, I miss the days we used to go chill at Beq's house on the weekends. You were a good dude, I truly mean that from the bottom of my heart. You're still here though...the thoughts of everyone that remembers you and miss you, give you life and always will. I'll drink one for you brother...

Just want to stress that Kyler is NOT forgotten. I never met the young man, but my son has spoken highly of him . . . and I know he grieves - so, I grieve. Thank you, Kyler, for being the kind of person my son would proudly call his friend.

November 6, 2014

Hello, My name is Kyler Harris. I am in the 12th grade at Winfield City High School. I chose to write to the family of Kyler L. Estrada because my name is also Kyler. I am 18, i just turned 18 the 30 of October. My grandfather was an officer in the war. I remember as a child I would go to paw paws house and play with all his stuff that he brought back as souviners and he would get so mad. I wrote this letter mainly to thank you for allowing your son to fight for my Freedom. Without him I wouldnt have the privilage to do what I would like. I am sorry for the loss and will have Kyler in my prayers. You can email my government teacher if you would like to respond.. [email protected]

We offer our heartfelt sympathy to the family and friends of PO3 Estrada and we honor his distinguished service to the cause of freedom and liberty. Sadly, America has lost one of its finest heroes, the U.S. has lost a friend and protector, and a family has lost an example of character and courage, which they will love and respect forever. Today, because of the sacrifice PO3 Estrada has made, the house of freedom is stronger, sturdier, and more secure.

To the family and friends, of PO3 Estrada, I would like you to know that a lot of people pray for you, and my hope is that their prayers will give you the strength necessary to carry on. Just as you were always with him when he was deployed overseas, know that he will always be with you wherever you may be. In the days to follow, may you be strengthened by the fact that PO3 Estrada was a man distinguished by exceptional courage and will always be admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities. You, your family and your sacrifice will never be forgotten.

"Our debt to the heroic men and valiant women in the service of our country can never be repaid, they have earned our undying gratitude. America will never, ever forget their sacrifices."

PO3 Estrada the flag of the United States of America has your blood sewn into the fabric; it shall forever wave in your honor.

Freedom requires sacrifice the protected will never know.

Our deepest symapthy on the loss of Kyler. Please know that our family is praying for yours during this time of sorrow. Our daughter, Emily, served on the USS Makin Island with Kyler. Although Kyler and she did not "work" together, she let us know the outpouring of love and sympathy for Kyler and his family. It especially hit her hard that they shared the same birthday and how much life can change in the blink of an eye. My God hold you and comfort you and help you heal.

Mario, Clarin and Alyssa. You have too few years of memories of Kyler but they will last a lifetime. We have not met yet, but I am a retired Marine who served with many outstanding young Navy Corpsmen such as your beloved Son and Husband. It is with great pride that I can state that Kyler was not just accepted as the "Doc" in his unit, but was banded as a true Brother to "His" Marines. That bond will last forever and there is not a Marine that will forget him or his sacrifice. I want to offer the deepest sympathy and condolences on behalf of the marines and Sailors of the Department of Arizona, Marine Corps League. Semper Fi 'Doc" , Respectfully, Milt Cruver, Captain USMC (Ret)

To Kyler's family,
My son, Cpl Andrew Thoman, served aboard the USS Makin Island with Kyler. I have spoken with my son several times in the last two weeks and each time he relays to me how deeply Kyler's shipmates are mourning his passing. Please know that he has asked me on behalf on his unit, India Company, to extend their heartfelt appreciation for all that "Doc" Estrada did to bring comfort to them. I hope that all of the prayers of his shipmates and of their families bring comfort to you now. May Kyler's light continue to shine brightly within your hearts.

I know there are no words to say at this time, except how sorry that I am. My thoughts and prayers are with you always. Kyler will never be forgotten.

For you every single soldier
Those who served so honorable
Your life was forever altered
While I'm home safe and free
I stand with grateful admiration
I stand respectful and so proud
I know I'm only a civilian
And I don't even know if it's allowed

But I salute you; allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
Even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
My humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.
I salute you.

For those missing in action;
for those who didn't make it home.
I know you're in God's presence you are not alone.
For every neatly folded flag;
for every shattered family
I will do the only thing I know to dignify your memory.

I salute you, allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
my humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.

I salute you .

I Salute You.

Precious Family of Kyler. You do not know us. Our son served along side your son on the 11th MEU. We can't tell you how much your Corpsman mean to our Marines. Our son had many stories of 'DOC' taking care of his aches and pains. They stepped up to fix what us momma's always did - to, 'make it better.' Please know our family is praying for you. We honor him for his service and his sacrifice.

The Final Salute

“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.

This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to our Brother-in-Arms PO3c Kyler L. “Doc” Estrada. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Kyler. And to Kyler it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the ultimate sacrifice he made for his country while deployed with the U.S. Navy in Djibouti. Kyler, you are a brave American Warrior and a true Patriot. With your passing, our Country has lost a National Treasure. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at ease. Rest in Peace.

On behalf of the 1,307 Legionnaire Veterans of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion in Shreveport, Louisiana, I extend our sympathies and our condolences to Kyler' family and loved ones.
