Lana Arbogast Obituary

July 4, 2025

Lana Lee Arbogast, a child of God, a friend, a grandmother, a mother, and a soulmate to the love of her life, James D. Arbogast, had a unique gift for conversation, connecting her with everyone she met. Whether it was a neighbor, a stranger, or a lifelong friend. She possessed the innate ability to make others feel valued and heard. Her humility and genuine interest in others made her a cherished confidante to many.
Lana was born on April 28, 1951, in the small town of Mattoon, Illinois, the daughter of Dale Eugene and Rosanna Lampe Matherly. Lana was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, James D. Arbogast, a Vietnam Veteran; her parents; and her brother Matt Matherly. Survivors include her brother Steve Matherly of Glendale, AZ; her three children, Josh (Kathy) Arbogast of Colorado Springs, CO; Tye (Christina) Arbogast of Broken Arrow, OK; LanieRose (William) Norton of Rio Rancho, NM; and ten amazing grandchildren.
Lana dedicated her life to working hard, raising her children, being a grandma, and caring for others. Whether through her nurturing touch, the warmth of her friendship, or her unconditional love, she always put others first.
Lana tragically passed away too soon, July 4, 2025, in Colorado Springs, CO, after being involved in a tragic vehicle accident. Lana was a true embodiment of love and selflessness, leaving behind a legacy of kindness that touched the lives of everyone who knew her. She possessed a simple grace. Her simple grace now resides in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, and countless friends. We will forever hold her memory dear, remembering the lessons of loyalty, kindness, generosity, and compassion she imparted.
Mom, you finished strong in this life. We are blessed to have known you and Dad. We will miss you dearly, but are so grateful you are reunited in heaven with your soulmate, James D. Arbogast.
