Larry Paul Billesbach, of Colorado Springs, died Sunday, March 13, 2022, just shy of 82 years. Larry was born April 30, 1940 in Alliance, Nebraska to John Paul and Cecille Gertrude Billesbach. Larry and his sister, Barbara Ann Getman were raised in Longmont, Colorado. He married the love of his life, Amy Lou Cromer in 1971 in Pueblo.
Larry received his degree in Biology and was the President of the Veteran's Club at Southern Colorado State College. Having lived a very fulfilling life, Larry's adventures included being a U.S. Marine, President of the Marine Corps League, police officer, cadaver diver, nuclear soil analyst, high school teacher, surgical technician, real estate appraiser, and even a shark hunter. Larry was most passionate about his family, his woodworking, helping others, and his Catholic faith.
After his wife Amy passed in 2009, he dedicated his life to supporting his children, being a loving grandfather, and hanging out with his best friend and dog, Bayley. Larry was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, and a member of The Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his son, Brett Billesbach, John Billesbach (Heather), Mark Billesbach (Megan), Jacqueline Winter (Aaron), and his newly discovered daughter, Bridget Cook-Burch (Doug). Larry was extremely proud of his nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, three nieces and a nephew whom he adored as well.
Although Larry called himself "a grumpy old Marine", he was clearly opposite of that, as evidenced by the fact that he was deeply loved by so many and will be greatly missed! A Rosary will be held on Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 3122 Poinsetta Dr, with a mass following at 11 a.m. A full military burial will follow at Pikes Peak National Cemetery at 1 p.m. followed immediately by a reception. Donations of flowers accepted at the church on the day of service. Any monetary donations will help support Larry's son Brett during his life transition. Please make checks payable to Jackie Winter..
