Larry Field Obituary

Larry Lee Field died December 3, 2014, in Broomfield, Colo. after a year-long battle with cancer. He was born July 7, 1937, in Fremont, Neb., but lived most of his life in Colorado Springs, Colo. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Dorothy Garfield Smith Field and Cecil LeRoy Field, his baby brother Cecil LeRoy Field, teenage brother Donald Leroy Field, his infant son Danny L. Field and adult son Ricky Lee Field.

Larry is survived by his loving wife of 4 years, Laurel Zolot Field, who cared for him faithfully throughout his illness; his daughter Tammy Dunson; and grandchildren, Kathy Field, Kim Field Pollard (Bert), Ricky Field, Jr., Karen Perdue Zagami (Joe); along with five great grandchildren, Kyler, Wills, Benson, Eliza Kate, and Sife.

He had fond memories of his childhood spent on the C.W. Abbott Farm in Fremont, Neb., and he honorably served in the U.S. Army for two years before leaving to start his family. He was a cabinet-maker by trade and later owned Field's Maintenance Service for many years.

Larry had a particular affinity for cars and enjoyed driving them for local dealerships. He also enjoyed square dancing through which he met his wife. He was a bargain hunter and took pride in his ability to purchase items, use them for a while and then sell them at higher prices than he originally paid. His beloved granddaughter Kim will always remember him as a hard worker with a tenacious love of life and an endearing sense of humor. He was well-loved and will be greatly missed.

Services will be held in Fremont, Neb. in the Spring.
