Larry W. Furda went to be with Jesus on February 27, 2023. He was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew him.
Larry was born on March 24, 1943 to Ellis and Geraldine Furda in Denver, Colorado. He was the oldest of three children and a brother to Karen Trotman (Tim) of Washington, Iowa and Janet Lindgren (Ross) of Centennial, Colorado. Larry graduated from Wasson High School and Central College in Pella, Iowa. He continued further education receiving a Master of Administration from CU Boulder. Larry met Mary Sikkink at Central College, and they were married on June 19, 1965. They moved to Colorado Springs to begin their teaching careers. Larry began working in the Widefield School District as a math teacher, computer specialist, and varsity basketball coach at Widefield High School. He left Widefield High School to work as an administrator in the district where he retired after 34 years. After retirement he worked for McGraw Hill as a consultant in educational testing.
Larry was active as a member at First Presbyterian Church of Colorado Springs for over 50 years. Larry was an Elder, Sunday school teacher, and member of Pathfinders Sunday School. He and Mary also enjoyed mentoring college-aged students from the church. In his younger years, he enjoyed running, fishing, and golfing. MS took away the ability to do many of his favorite things, but he never complained. He and Mary traveled to Scottsdale often where he loved the warm weather.
Larry was devoted to his wife Mary for 57 years. Together they have 2 children, Kristin Goldsberry (Mark) and Jonathan Furda (Jenifer). He loved his children and grandchildren, Kelly Goldsberry (Gerry), Blake Goldsberry (Emily), Rhyan Furda and Wyatt Furda, more than words could express. He was so proud of them.
An intimate family service will be held on March 12. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent in Larry's name to Young Life of Colorado Springs or FCA Colorado.

Larry was smart, really smart. Aside from being a kind and supportive friend he excelled at math, finance, basketball and life and was an institution ushering at First Presbyterian. All of our lives are better because we knew and worked with you, Larry.
