Laura jean Short was born on March 5, 1937 in Wichita, Kansas and married to Dr. William F. Short for nearly 70 years. She attended Colorado College and moved to Sarasota from Colorado Springs in 1998. An active member of Redeemer Church and the Junior League of Sarasota, Jean was an avid reader and a terrific cook. A passionate genealogy researcher for the past 50 years, she also played bridge and liked gardening. Jean played tennis all of her life including time at The Field Club, Cheyenne Mountain Country Club and the GArden of the Gods Club. Active in many sports, she also enjoyed golf, sailing, pickleball and biking. She died on November 14, 2023 after a year long battle with cancer with her family at her bedside. Jean is survived by her husband, William and 3 children - Letia Short,
Melissa Williamson and Mark Short, 3 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Interment will be held at Chapel of Our Savior.
