Dear Dr. Alex: You are one of the most precious, caring individuals I have ever met...you saved my life when I was "drowning". I just learned of this tragedy last night, and my heart is broken for you, and your beautiful family. I remember when we talked about your wife being a fellow social worker, the adoptions of your sweet girls...I am praying for all of you, and know they are all still with you in angelic ways...time will never heal this loss, but God's love will. Know I am here for you at any hour to help. My deepest heart-felt condolences.

Alex and extended Family,
Wanted you to know that God had placed you on my heart since before this heartbreaking event. Not knowing the circumstances, knew that prayer would be appropriate. Now will continue those prayers for comfort and strength as you face the coming days. My heart aches for you over this news, please know that I care as do the many others who have written here.

Laurel was a member of our small book club and I always admired her zest for life and her love of her children. Book club will not be the same without her. I'm so sorry for your loss.

I give you this one thought to keep; I am with you still; I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamonds glint on the snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain.I am the gentle autumn's rain. When you awaken in the mornings hush, I am the swift uprising rush of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft stars that shine at night. Do not think of me as gone. I am with you still in each new dawn.

Although I did not know your family, I feel the urge to convey my deepest sympathies. You and your wife embodied a beautiful lesson for us all. Children are the world's children and so many are seeking their "forever homes"- As a fellow Catholic Christian, I also believe that they have simply gone to their forever home before us and we'll meet again. Peace be with you.

Dear Dr. Alex, we attended Chinese School with Zoe and Laurel. Wow, did she love the color orange! What a vibrant, confident and outgoing little girl. We are so blessed to have known them. We got to meet the baby and the rest of the family at the Chinese New Year Celebration. All of the families with Asian adopted children are with you and surrounding you with our love and support.

Dr. Constantinides: Laurel was the Social Worker for my daughter and son-in-law, Karen & Stephen Bassett. She was not only their Social Worker, but a special friend to them. Laurel guided them through the lengthy adoption process, and their dream was fulfilled when they brought home a little Korean girl last May 19, 2010. Laurel made many, many lives complete through adoption.
Please accept my deepest condolences, and may God give you comfort as you mourn the loss of your special family - your earthly angels are now heavenly angels.

To the family of these remarkable people,
I have never met you and yet my heart aches for you. I can't even say that I know how you feel, because I have never had such a loss. I can only imagine what it is like to lose such a wonderful group of "women." Even in my imagination, I am devastated. May peace come to you again one day, and may God hold you tight. Please know the community mourns with you.
