Laurence Naples Obituary

Laurence (Larry) Naples entered paradise on January 19, 2014, peacefully and surrounded in love by his family. He is safely at home with his Lord, where he is living in everlasting peace and joy. Cancer did not win-death has no claim on him as he has entered the gates of heaven.

Larry grew up in Chicago and was a loyal Cubs fan. Larry is loved and missed by his wife Laurie; the joys of his life, his children Justin, Mikel, Jon, Ben and his wife Jessica and their soon-to-be born child; and his precious son Nick, who Larry now joins in playing heavenly music. Larry is also loved and missed by many special and treasured friends.

Larry lived his life to glorify God and he practiced this daily by helping others as a baseball coach, as a Boy Scout leader, and as a pediatric nurse at both Hope Childrens Hospital in Oak Lawn, IL, and Memorial Childrens Hospital in Colorado Springs. Larry was also a nurse for Prospect Home Health Care & Hospice in Teller County, where he helped people live out their final days with dignity, compassion, and love.

Larry's best days were spent with his family, whether it was a camping trip, summer vacations, cooking, and barbecuing with friends, going to baseball games, leading Scouts in adventures, or spending time with his boys. Larry was always happiest when he could spend time playing guitar with his son Nick and now they are playing beautiful music together again in Paradise.

Larry's deep commitment to his faith, family, and friends is his legacy. His huge, loving heart lives on in all those that knew and loved him. Although Larry faced serious health issues and profound grief, he continued to live his life with great joy and passion for each new day that he was able to share with those he loved. He continues to be a bright light of love and faith to guide us all.

Larry's family is deeply grateful to Prospect Home Health Care & Hospice in Woodland Park for helping them assist Larry in living his last days with peace, love, and dignity. Their compassion and caring will always be remembered.

A celebration of Larry's well-lived life will be at 1:00 pm, Thursday, January 23, at Mountain View United Methodist Church in Woodland Park.

The greatest gift that can be given to Larry and his family is for you to spend time with your family, friends, and those you love. Enjoy the moments, God is good.
