LaVerne Mlynek Obituary

LaVerne Mlynek, of Colorado Springs, passed away Thursday, November 3, 2011 at her Palisades Residence. She joins her husband of 73 years, Eugene Mlynek, 17 months after his passing. LaVerne was born in Chicago, IL on May 27, 1920 to Frank Mahnke and Francis Grace (Miller) Mahnke. She graduated from Leyden High School in 1936. LaVerne met the love of her life, Gene Mlynek, in Chicago, at the Melody Mill Ballroom. They both loved ballroom dancing. Gene and LaVerne were married in the spring of 1937. LaVerne was a skilled Administrative Assistant, always managing to find a job near home. She was a wonderful homemaker, seamstress and had many craft hobbies that included; knitting, crocheting and ceramics. LaVerne loved to laugh and had a knack of getting people to join her. LaVerne was preceded in death by her parents Frank Mahnke and Francis Mahnke, her only sister, Doloras (Mahnke) Neighbor and her husband Eugene. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jerome (Jerry) and Harlyn Mlynek, granddaughters; Deborah J. Harness, Karen A. Logan and Julia M. Carlson. She also leaves behind four great grandchildren: Melissa, Thomas, Jessica and Alex. Our lives will not be nearly as full without you. We will all miss you very much. Rest in peace, Mom.
