Larry was a fun friend and great guy!

Larry Laxson was a great personal friend for many decades. We met at the Colorado Springs Police Department and had the opportunity to work together in several units over the years. I often joked about him being a "renaissance man" - someone who knew a great deal of many subjects, and someone who could apply that knowledge. Whether it was cooking, baking, construction work, electrical work, building aircraft, or flying them, he was truly amazing. At one point, he and I traveled to Ft. Hood, Texas to look at the 3 helicopters that we would receive from the US Army, for our CSPD Air Unit. I had visions of seeing those aircraft on the tarmac having been hardly used, but instead, when we got there, all 3 aircraft were up in the air flying a training mission. We made arrangements to bring those aircraft back to Colorado Springs and they became the foundation of the Air Support Unit which Larry was the Supervisor of. The work friendship carried over to our personal lives. He was gracious with his time and his expertise. He helped me when I was building a house, all the while offering his time and energy. We would meet quite often at Senor Manuel's restaurant on north Nevada Ave. and at times, we would share some experiences over their margaritas. After he retired, he moved to Costa Rica and he would share some stories about that country. Between the friendly people, the food, the language, and the countryside, his stories prodded my wife Joyce and I to travel to that corner of the world.
To Breezy, Peter, and Anna; and to the Laxson brothers - Gary and John, and their families as well; Joyce and I hope that the many memories that Larry created will comfort you during this trying time. Please accept our sincere condolences on your loss.

I remember our PD helicopter and Larry's ability to help control a scene so well with the chopper. There's nothing like support from the air, right? Larry, we love you and thank you for your contributions. Godspeed my friend.
