Lee Connelly Obituary

Connelly
Lee Jaeger Rogers Connelly
1926 - 2017
Lee Jaeger Rogers Connelly born February 4th, 1926. Lee J. Connelly, longtime Colorado Spring's resident, died December 25th, 2017.
A dedicated teacher and educator, Lee spent her retirement years advancing the cause of adult literacy as mentor and director of programs in Colorado Springs.
Lee grew up near Valley Forge Pennsylvania in George Washington's locksmith's house, graduated from West Chester University and attended graduate school in Tulsa Oklahoma, where she eventually moved after marrying Edward F. (Bud) Rogers in 1951.
They raised their son, Edward Jr. (Rod), there, where Lee taught fifth grade until 1974.
Many years after Bud's death in 1959, she married a Tulsa friend, William Connelly, and moved to The Springs as their chosen retirement destination. Always active outdoors,
Lee loved nature, animals, dogs in particular, and always provided food and water in her sanctuary of a backyard for all wild creatures from the adjacent greenbelt.
Lee, always a proper lady, was well prepared for any endeavor and brought charm and humor to any occasion, though she never hesitated to correct one's english in any setting.
She was a task master who demanded much but never more than she expected of herself. She is survived by her son, Edward Rogers (Anne Miller), granddaughters, Christine Rogers and Adrienne Rogers, great grandchildren, Kendall and Brandon and by Wendy Kadlec, devoted companion and caregiver.
Services will be held at First Presbyterian Church 219 E Bijou St, Colorado Springs, CO 80903 on Saturday 01/06/2017 at 11AM.
In lieu of flowers, Lee requested donations to ASPCA or the Wounded Warriors Project.

Lee was a dear family friend whose support, humor, and love will always stay with me. I loved our visits and phone calls. Lee will always hold a special place in my heart. My thoughts are with Rod whom Lee was so very proud of.
