Lee Sorensen Obituary

Lee D. Sorensen, beloved family man and friend of many, returned to the arms of his Savior on September 7, 2013. He was blessed to be at home and surrounded by those most precious to him, his family, when he departed this life.

Lee was born in St. Edward, Nebraska on November 22, 1950, to loving parents Erling and Evelyn Sorensen. One of the happiest days of his life was August 17, 1973, when he married his wife, Susan Rains. He loved her from the first moment he saw her, a love that never wavered for 40 years. His lifelong passion was photography, from simple family photos to the weddings that he immortalized for many couples. He was an exceptional leather worker and wood worker, and there was nothing he couldn't fix. He was also an extraordinary outdoorsman. He spent many hours hunting, fishing, and shooting firearms, always with his family. Furthermore he was incredible at riding everything from motorcycles, to dirt bikes, and ATVs.

The most important thing to Lee was his Faith. We never knew a man more sure of his relationship with God, more aware of the love Jesus had for him, and more willing to share his faith in a way that made everyone around him want to listen. He was the most honest, kind, and charitable man. He lived his life for the happiness of his family and of others.

He was preceded in death by his father Erling Sorensen, whom he dearly respected. He is survived by his loving wife, Susan Sorensen; his caring mother, Evelyn Sorensen; and his sister, Cindy Sorensen, whom he loved dearly. He is also survived by his sons Nathan and Daniel Sorensen, whom he could always count on for strength, and their wives, Amanda Armstrong and Larissa Sorensen; his beautiful daughter Shannan Sorensen, her boyfriend and Lee's adopted son, Bradley Montrose; in addition to his adopted sons and daughter, Bryan Hunt, Levi and Kaitlyn Henderson. Furthermore, he lives on through his pride and joy, his grandchildren: Chasen and Caleb Sorensen, and Kaelyn and Elena Sorensen.

The family will be having a Celebration of his life at Rocky Mountain Calvary Chapel (4285 North Academy Boulevard, 80918) on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. with a reception to follow. Please join us in remembering this extraordinary gentleman.
