Leigh-Ann Maloney Obituary

Leigh-Ann Maloney went to be with the Lord on 9/2/09 after a five-year battle with ovarian cancer. She died peacefully in her home in Colorado Springs, surrounded by her loving family. Leigh-Ann was born in San Antonio, TX to Keith and Beverly Deubler. Keith was an Army physician and the family lived a number of places, settling in Colorado. Leigh-Ann won an Army nursing scholarship and was commissioned and assigned to Louisiana where young Army Corps of Engineers officer, Mike Maloney, fell in love with her. They were married in 1979 and spent over 30 years as best-friends and soul-mates. Leigh-Ann left nursing in 1980 to start a family of four children, making homes in Virginia, Alaska, Idaho, Germany, Kansas and finally settling in Colorado Springs, CO in 1994. She home-schooled her children through 8th grade and stayed very involved with them through high school and college. Many friends of her children referred to her, lovingly, as “Mom. Leigh-Ann learned American Sign Language and volunteered countless hours interpreting for the deaf, especially enjoying interpreting worship music at church. Leigh-Ann is survived by: her husband, Mike; her children, Kristin (husband Karl and soon-to-be-born son), Peter, Debra and Susan; siblings, David Deubler, Denise Sorensen (husband John), and Steven Deubler (wife Donna and children Mark and Meghan); and step-mother Anna Jane Deubler. A memorial service will be held at the Stone Chapel, Rockrimmon Campus of Woodmen Valley Chapel (280 E. Woodmen Rd), at 10:00 am, on Saturday, September 12. A reception will follow the service. The family wishes to thank the wonderful caregivers at Rocky Mountain Cancer Center and Odyssey Hospice.

Dear Mike & family,
I am so sorry for your loss, I didn't know Leigh-Ann for long, but I did know she was a kind & caring lady. It was easy to see how much you both meant to each other & when she spoke of the children how much she loved them. She inspired me.
God Bless all of you, you are in my prayers.

Dear Maloney family, We are so very sorry for the loss of your dear wife and mother. We remember Leigh-Ann from Woodmen Valley Chapel and her beautiful signing of the worship songs. Often, we sat near the hearing impaired section just to watch her sign. She had a wonderful smile and included new-comers (like our family). We loved working with her and the children in Summer Funner Theatre. Although we don't live in Colorado Springs anymore (except Allison), you are in our heartfelt prayers,
