Resident of Martinez
Leland "Wayne" Hamilton went to be with the Lord Jesus on Wed., Oct. 10th at age 83. He was known by his family as "Wayne" and by his friends as "Lee". He resided in Martinez 48 yrs.
Born May 24, 1929 in Jonesboro, Ark. to Leland Brown Hamilton and Flora Annie Cate. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lexy Hamilton, brother, Glenn Hamilton, sister, Clara Everingham, daughter, Stella "Darleen" Hamilton, sons, David (Pamela) Hamilton, Steven (Kelly) Hamilton. He is survived by many loving family members.
Lee contracted Typhoid Fever at age 3, but fought through the sickness. An early glimpse of the fighting spirit he would continue to portray throughout his life. He served his country in the U.S. Army Airborne in WWII. Lee worked at the Martinez Avon Refinery as an operator from 1952 - 1994. A member of the Veterans local chapter.

Leland's "Celebration of Life" will be held at Oakmont Mortuary, 2099 Reliez Valley Rd., in Lafayette, Thurs., Oct. 18. Viewing at noon, Celebration Service at 1:00pm and Graveside Service at 2:30pm.

I was a young man lifthing weights at the YMCA. Al of us young guys at that time looked up to Lee. He was twice our age and lifting twice of what we could. He was the strong and silent type,and all around good guy
