Leland Roberts Obituary
Bud was born in Topeka, Kansas to Clarence and Hazel Roberts, along with his deceased brother, Ronald.
He attended Topeka High School and three-years at Washburn University, joining Kappa Sigma Fraternity before his Navy reserve unit was activated.
Bud spent two years in Sasebo, Japan during the Korean War. After returning in 1954, he and Marilyn Lee Towler were married. They moved to Manhattan, Kansas where he attended Kansas State University, graduating from the school of Architecture with honors in 1957.
After moving to Colorado Springs he worked for Carlisle Guy Architectural Firm; was a Branch Manager of Gerald H. Phipps Contractors until partnering with Michael Collins in 1970. Later in 1982, he and Randy Thorne formed a partnership, Roberts Thorne Architects, now known as RTA.
Bud was a member of the American Institute of Architects, and was President of the Southern Chapter of AIA. A few of his combined projects included, the current Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame; American Numismatic Association; Western National Bank; numerous Broadmoor Hotel projects; the addition to First Presbyterian Church; along with many residences.
Bud loved sports, tennis; golf; sailing; and fly fishing, especially with his family and close friends.
Bud is survived by his wife, Marilyn Roberts, of 61 years; three sons, Gil, John (Kelly), and David Roberts; along with grandchildren, Pearson, Logan, Dylan, Daphne, Noah and Isabella, all whom were dearly loved.
Celebration of Life Service, 12:00PM, Friday, March 4, 2016, Chapel of our Saviour, 8 Fourth Street, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80906 . Reception to follow.
The family would like to thank Sandy and the wonderful staff at Brookdale Bearcreek Memory Care.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Chapel of our Saviour, or the Foundation of America Alzheimer's Association.

I am so saddened to hear that I missed Bud's service this past week.
Bud and Marilyn have been my most favored friends of my in-laws, for almost 30 years. I just loved Bud--such a special upbeat man, with always a charming smile on his face. I used to love to listen to him tell a story!
I had the extreme pleasure of working with him in 2003, in his field of architecture, when he was able to put on paper the plans for my farm house, on Jim's and my property in Fountain. Bud was so supportive and positive throughout the whole process. I am always able to feel his presence in this beautiful home, and that is very special to me and my boys.
It was always a pleasure to see him and Marilyn at any social and/or family gatherings. Truly, one of my favorite people, we all will miss him. God bless you, Marilyn and your boys.

I was saddened to hear of Bud's passing. I worked as a consultant for him on several projects. He was a wonderful man to work with. We had a running conversation whenever I saw him. He always asked about my dad whose name was also Bud Roberts. He will be missed.
