Leo Morris Obituary

Leo went to be present with the Lord Jesus Christ on October 16, 2012, after a lengthy illness. Leo is survived by his loving wife, Beverly (Broyles), devoted daughter, Deborah Compton, and his son-in-law Ray of Colorado Springs, sisters Shirley Brown of Wayland, Iowa, and Marilyn (Alvin) Lutch of Blairsville, Georgia, as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a multitude of friends. He was preceded in death by his twin brother, his mother Bessie (Owen) Morris, father George Morris, brothers Gene Morris who is MIA in the Korean conflict, and Richard (Dick) Morris. Leo married Beverly Jean Broyles on July 24, 1952. They celebrated their 60th anniversary this past July. Together they raised one daughter, Deborah. He joined the United States Air Force in 1953 and retired after 20 years of service. Leo then worked the next 20 years as a city bus driver for Colorado Springs Transit Management. Maintaining friendships forged over the past 60 years was always a priority to him. He always took the time to help out family and friends. Without a doubt, he was the most generous man and will be remembered as such. Leo saw the potential in those around him and then instilled in them the confidence to succeed. Leo enjoyed traveling, attending Cheyenne Frontier Days and the National Final Rodeo in Las Vegas. For 3 years, he volunteered his time 7 days a week delivering discarded produce from the Fort Carson Commissary to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. Memorial Service 11:00AM, Thursday, October 25, 2012 at Woodmen Valley Stone Chapel, 290 E. Woodmen Road, Colorado Springs, CO. Private Interment at Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Woodmen Valley Chapel, 290 E. Woodmen Road, Colorado Springs, CO 80919 or the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo 4250 Cheyenne Mountain Zoo Road Colorado Springs, CO 80906.
