Leona Lueder Obituary

Leona Joan (Patelczyk) Lueder died peacefully November 10, 2008 at the Brookdale Village at Skyline in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Born in Chicago, Illinois February 8, 1914, Leona lived in Chicago and Skokie, Illinois until relocating to Lakewood, Colorado with her late husband, Elmer, in 1972. She had lived in Colorado Springs since 1996. She and Elmer were blessed with two daughters, Joan and Joyce. While living the Chicago, she worked for the Chicago Transit Authority, and later in the Building Department of the Village of Skokie. Leona was predeceased by her dear parents, Anthony and Clara Patelczyk, her loving husband, Elmer, her beloved daughter, Joan Lueder Coffey, and her brother, Joseph (Sophie) Patel. She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Lueder, and her dear grandchildren, Julie and Joseph Poswalk, all of Colorado Springs, her son- in-law, Edward Coffey, of The Woodlands, Texas, her nieces, Judy Helm, of Boise, Idaho, and Janine Patel, of Novi, Michigan, and many extended family and friends in Chicago, Lakewood, and Colorado Springs. Leona's family is grateful to all of the staff of Brookdale Village at Skyline in Colorado Springs who have provided competent, loving, and compassionate care for her over the past five years. We would like to offer a special thank you to Dr. Rusky and the Hospice Staff for their added care and service. A visitation is scheduled from 4:00 – 6:00 PM, Thursday, November 13, 2008, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 6455 Brook Park Drive, Colorado Springs, CO. A Rosary service follow the visitation at 6:00 PM. The Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, Friday, November 14, 2008, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Colorado Springs, CO. Entombment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Joan L. Coffey Endowed Scholarship Fund, c/o Office of University Advancement, Sam Houston State University, Huntsville, Texas 77341, or the charity of the donor's choice.
