I have fond memories of Leanord, not only in church, but also in Bible Study. Herbie used to tease him, but he was so good natured about it. Also loved to hear the two sing.

To begin with I love my Brother very much I am going to miss Him a lot
I remember when we were growing up, we were there for each other all the time. I remember when we moved to Muskegon, Michigan. I was about 7 years old. My Mom and Dad worked in the defense plants during the war days. They would pay my brother and I to do the house work and clean and etc. My brother, Junior, loved to read, so he would read a book and let me do the work. I enjoyed this because Mom and Dad paid us our allowance by keeping the house work done. We got a dime for about everything; making the beds, sweeping the floors, doing the dishes, etc. At the end of the week, Mom and Dad paid us. I was (rich) while Junior didnt earn very much as he liked to read. I would take my (riches) to the Dairy Queen which was about 2 houses away from ours and buy everone ice cream, including my brother who liked to read. That was ok, I loved my Brother.
We moved to Colo Spgs, Colo in June of 1943 during the war and tires were hard to get so it took us about 3 weeks to get there. By the way the speed limit on the highways then was only 35 miles per hour too We attended High School together and after graduation, I joined the Air Force and sent a telegram to Junior saying I enlisted. He sent one back saying wait for me I am going too. We met at Lackland AFB, Texas and were there for each other for four years in the Air Force.
Then Junior went to work for the Post Office. I worked around little jobs while he kept telling me to come join the Post Office I finally did and we were together in the Post Office. He spent 38 years with them while I spent only 35 but we were there for each other.
Then aafter retirement, Junior went to work for a computer chip company as a security guard. I was unemployed and bored just sitting around the house, so Junior spoke to His boss who called me and asked if I wanted to work there too. I said ok so we were there for each other again.
I remember He was always there for me and I tried to always be there for him. We had picnics together, fishing together, camping together. We always went to campmeeting together which was the highlight of our vacation times with the Post Office together
When I spoke with Junior while he was still in the hospital, I told him if we dont see each other again here on earth, brother, I will see you in
Heaven, to which he replied "Amen Brother". That was the last words he spoke to me which I will cherish forever.
I only had my one brother, whom I dearly love and we will always be there for each other. Here and in Heaven. Amen I Love you Brother. Herbie

I wish to express our condolences from the family of Armada Woten Sawdy, we lived so far apart and only have the memories of family stories, I wish we had lived closer and had more contact. I have the graduation picture of Jr and one of Herb and will cherish these as do my children of our family. I know Jr is at peace and will suffer no pain up there. He is smiling down saying he's waiting for all his loved ones to be as happy as he is now. You are in our prayers and with our love we give you,

Uncle Jr was really the only uncle I knew and he was always one of the most gentle and kindest men I have ever met! He was quiet, never drew attention to himself, but was always there if you needed him! I don't think a year ever passed when he and Aunt Verna didn't remember my Birthday with a card and reminder of their love, no matter where the Army sent us! I don't know why Carla and I always called him Uncle Poopsy, but it must have been a child-hood joke between us, and he always signed Birthday and Christmas cards from Aunt Verna and "Uncle Poopsy". He had a wonderful sense of humor and I admired the bond he had with his brother (my father Herb). He was so caring and loving to Aunt Verna too, always there when she needed him! He truly lived the vows that they had take 57 years earlier! I was there when they brought Lynn over the day they adopted him. He was only 8 days old, and I will never forget the love and joy on Jr and Verna's faces. They were so grateful and blessed to have Lynn! Dave met Uncle Jr a few years ago when we came out to Colo Spgs. Uncle Jr welcomed Dave into the family and spent time talking with Dave and truly made him feel welcome. Dave actually thanked me for sharing my family with him because he didn't know that a family could be that loving and caring! I miss Uncle Jr and I know how hard Fathers' Day is going to be for Lynn and Aunt Verna and the girls! My prayers are with all of you! I Love you all and even though I can't take your pain and loss away, please know that there are so many people (including me) that care and will be there for you! Love Always, Dave and Paula Sherry

Dad, I just want you to know that you have touched so many lives with your love and generosity. I have met people we did not even know whom you made an impact on with your smiling face, love and generosity. Mom, your grandaughters, and I love you so much and we will deeply miss you. Our only comfort is to know that you are now with our maker up in heaven looking down at us and that someday we will be with you again eternally. You are the best Father anyone could ever have. May you rest in peace. Love, your son Lynn

I went to Elementary school with Lynn and lived a block or two away. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family during this difficult time.

I remember the Irwin family quit fondly. I went to Community Church of God in Colorado Springs with Herb and his family. I met most of his family there at the church and the whole family was so sweet. I want to send my condolences and my prayers for the family. God Bless!!

He was our mailman for many years. He bought kool-aid and lemonade from us whenever we had a little stand set up. He was always friendly and had a smile on his face. May he rest in peace.
