Leonard Walker Obituary

March 6, 1927 - May 2, 2008 Leonard George Robert Walker was born in Bowlegs, Seminole County, Oklahoma to Clyde and Irene (White) Walker, the second of five siblings. Bob enlisted in the Air Force after high school, serving several years. His passion for flying and making model replicas lasted his lifetime. An outdoorsman, hunter and fisherman, his ability to screw up telling a joke was legendary. Bob possessed a tenacious spirit, gracious manner and a tender heart. He was known to tell tall tales, a few actually true. Bob always wore a genuine smile along with a twinkle in his eye for all the ladies, and he whistled proficiently. Bob's employment spanned from crop duster to gas station owner; mechanic to General Service Manager of former Johnson Pontiac; Assistant Project Manager for AMI to a lead Engineer on Air Force One at Boeing Wichita, Kansas. In 2005 Bob returned to Colorado Springs residing at Viewpoint and Appletree Senior Living facilities, with the loving assistance of his daughter, Denise Whited. Bob died May 2 and was cremated. His ashes will be interred at Fort Logan National Veterans Cemetery, Denver, Colorado with private services. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, several siblings and former in-laws, Joseph and Norma McKenna. He is survived by his devoted daughter, Denise (Christian) Whited, special daughter, Karen Grimsley, eldest daughter, Pamela Jo (Jack) Yourek, granddaughters; Karen (Josh) Powers, Michelle Yourek and two great-grandchildren, former wife NormaJeanne Walker-Gray, many friends and his faithful schnauzer, Charlie. Like the Frank Sinatra ballad, "Bob always did it his way."
