LeRoy Schierkolk Obituary

LeRoy L. Schierkolk, 90, of Colorado Springs, Colorado passed away on Thursday, December 25, 2014 peacefully at his home. LeRoy was born in Lanham, NE on June 11, 1924 to his Parents Henry and Alvina Schierkolk.

LeRoy married Pearl Miller in December of 1942. They made their home in DeWitt, NE, where they were both employed at the Petersen Vice Grip wrench factory.

During World War II LeRoy was drafted, serving in five major battles. LeRoy was wounded at "The Battle of the Bulge" and flown to a hospital in England.

In 1955 the family moved to Colorado Springs. LeRoy was a distributor for Meadow Gold Dairy, serving grocery stores, schools and restaurants. He enjoyed camping, water skiing, and traveling in the family's motorhome. LeRoy was also an active member of The East United Methodist Church.

Leroy was preceded in death by his Parents, Son In-law Tim Joyner, Sister LaVerne Litten, Brother In-law Howard Jahnke and Nephews Ronald Rahe and Rick Jahnke.

LeRoy is survived by his Beloved Wife Pearl, Daughter Judy Joyner of Evansville, WY, Grandson Scott Joyner of Evansville, WY, Granddaughters Tamara Joyner of Powell, WY, Crystal Joyner of Rock Springs, WY, Great Grandson Jace Joyner, Sister Wanda Jahnke of DeWitt, NE, Brother In-law Bob Litten, Nieces Terry Litten, Bonnie Litten and Husband Daryll, Deborah Harvey and Husband James all of Colorado Springs, CO and Tami Johnson of Irvine, CA.

A Visitation will be held on Friday, January 2, 2015 from 10:00 AM until the Funeral Service at 11:00 AM at Swan Law Funeral Directors 501 N. Cascade Avenue Colorado Springs, Colorado 80903. Reception to follow
