Leslie Smythe Obituary

Leslie E. "Les" Smythe Sept 24, 1927 - July 20, 2007. Leslie E. "Les" Smythe, age 79, a contractor and Air Force Retiree, passed away on Friday, July 20, 2007 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Les was born to J. Ernest and Matilda (Gilmore) Smyth on September 24, 1927 in Chicago, Illinois. Shortly after his birth, the family moved to Northern Ireland, where he grew to manhood. He married Margaret Gallagher, in Tangier, Morocco on March 19, 1954. Having no children or brothers or sisters, he is survived by his wife Margaret Smythe of Colorado Springs and cousins living in Arizona and California. Les and Margaret made their home in Colorado Springs in 1963 after his retirement from the Air Force. During his military career in the Air Force, Les served his country at duty stations in Morocco, Germany, and numerous air bases throughout the United States. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 30, 2007 at the Shrine of Remembrance "America the Beautiful" Chapel of Roses, 1730 E. Fountain Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80910. A reception following the services will be held at the Olympian Plaza Reception and Event Center, 975 South Union, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80910. Those wishing to honor his memory, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the charity of ones choice. Blessed be his memory.
