Lester "Corky" Eugene Patterson, passed away peacefully at his home on May 5, 2023, at the age of 84. Even though Corky's passing was a shock to all, his impact on the lives of many will forever be remembered and cherished. Corky was born to Boyd and Frieda Patterson on December 10, 1938, in Lakin, Kansas. After graduating from Vona High School, Vona, Colorado in 1956, Corky entered the Navy and bravely served his country on the USS CHIVO submarine from October 15, 1956, to October 27, 1959. Following the Navy, Corky became a Master Electrician and served in that industry for most of his adult life. In addition to this, Corky was a Volunteer Fireman for the Stratmoor Hills Fire District for 10 years and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 113. Outside of his duties in the Navy and as an electrician, Corky enjoyed camping, boating, fishing, and hunting with his family. He was also involved in coaching his son, Terry Patterson, in baseball for much of his life. Once grandkids entered his life, Corky was very much involved in supporting them in all their sporting endeavors. He was always there in the stands cheering them on. When Corky wasn't at a sporting event, he would find joy in going to Cripple Creek where he made friends and became a part of a community that will miss him dearly. Corky is survived by his son, Terry Patterson and wife Linda Patterson; daughter, Rhonda Olme and husband William Olme; five grandchildren, Tyler Patterson, Samantha Patterson, Shelby Book and husband Brandon Book, Ryann Olme, Haley Van Wagenen and husband Spencer Van Wagenen, and his niece Laura Mersman. He is preceded in death by his father, Boyd Patterson, mother Freida (Young) Patterson and brother Jim Patterson. Corky's Celebration of Life will be at the I.B.E.W. Local Union Hall, 2150 Naegele Road, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80904 on May 25, 2023, at 11:30am.
