Letha Cronkhite Obituary

April 28, 1917 - July 23, 2007. Letha was born in Blair, Nebraska, on April 28, 1917, to Jacob and Louise Ludwick. She married Edward J. Cronkhite (aka E.J.) on October 23, 1942. While EJ was serving in the military, Letha worked for a period of time in a steel mill as a crane operator and then as a homemaker. After retirement they settled in Security, Colorado, where she lived for 40 years. Letha and E.J. helped start Security Christian Church and the Fountain Valley Christian Church. They enjoyed bowling and won several trophies. She was active as a Cub Scout den mother, sang in the church choir, enjoyed sewing, crocheting/knitting, and crafts. Letha resided at Heritage Senior Home in Palisade, Colorado, for several years, until her death. Staff enjoyed her laugh and smiles. On November 1, 1977, E.J. went home to be with the Lord. Now they are together again. Letha is survived by son's Robert Cronkhite of Madras, Oregon, Jack Cronkhite, of Grand Junction, Colorado, and daughter, Gerry Stump of Piqua, Ohio. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Memorial services were held at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary in Grand Junction, on Saturday, July 28, 2007. Dave Sloan, a friend of the family, officiated. Music was provided by the Bookcliff Barbershop Harmony Chorus. Services will be in the Memorial Gardens Chapel in Colorado Springs on October 6 at 1:00 p.m. with burial to follow. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her name can be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Colorado or Heritage Senior Homes.
