Mister Lile!
Happy happy birthday!!! We are missing our 14 year old boy now, and celebrating you today!
Jack is 3 and one of his favorite little things is a little plastic Swiss Army knife that was yours and have your name on it that you wrote with marker yourself! We keep pictures of your family on our fridge and Jack always said you boys are his best friends! Soul mates at heart I love to believe!
Id love to ask you how you are and all youve been learning up there, but I know that in every gorgeous sunset, or rainbow off of the side of the highway, or geode or bumble bee, butterfly, funny joke, sunny day or even a cool stick, youre there, sending love and happiness. You are always here.
We will never leave you and you never leave us.
Love is such a beautiful thing!
The other day I passed an injured deer who was still so strong and resilient and it made me think of you and your sensitive soul.
There was a day after school we went for a little drive over in the neighborhoods near Cheyenne canyon because Fenny was sleeping. We came upon a a gorgeous buck with beautiful antlers and he had a broken leg. You cried and were upset that he was hurting and asked me why he was that way and if we could help him. We drove by and saw him in that same yard for days until finally he did get the help he needed and you were so happy and always talked about him.
You always cared for others and you truly had a spirit and soul that brought love in comfort at such a young age.
You still do.

The hurt doesnt go away that you arent here for another round of birthday cupcakes this year but today we have a break in the cloudy days. There is sunshine. You are here and celebrating with us.

Hey big guy! It's coming up on an almost super big birthday for you! Tonight we baked you cupcakes but Jack needed to go to bed before we were able to get frosting on them finished so tomorrow I promise we will finish and have cupcakes for you! One of my favorite memories of us was making cupcakes together... so this year I am not going to do balloons to send up to you but cupcakes instead! (The Air Force has a kind of weird thing about sending balloons up here...) hahaha! They get monitored pretty close! So as for the cupcakes, well, I hope you will be proud of how they turned out!
I think of you always and always and always but wanted to hop on here tonight and write you a little message for you to read ;)
This year brought me a little girl and you'd just love her! Her name is Eleanora and she is the daintiest happiest little thing! I can picture you talking to her like you did with Fenny!! It was my favorite all of the voices and baby talk you did with Fenn! Just the sweetest!! Oh, Uncle Lile! Not a day goes by where I am not reminded of you! You have stamped this glorious earth with your love! You've filled every turn with a wonder that is marked by you and you've touched this whole world in a meaure of ways that cannot be measured.
I don't have to tell you because I know you already now...but Fenny and Tommy just grow by leaps and a big giant bound every day! They're so handsome and talented!
It is my greatest priveledge in seeing them in every photo and video when I can't be there in person. They and I, love you so very very much. You are engrained in all of us.
Today is so hard for me, as it is for the whole world...There are so many questions on why you had to go. It will never ever make sense. I understand now it's not ours to make sense of, but even still, the human side of me struggles with that. Very much. You still love us through the sad times...bringing reminders in butterflies and rainbows and cupcakes. Because you are good and you are joy and you see when we are sad and help us to overcome that.
Lile Mecom you are the best.

From the first time I met you all, I remember just wanting to stay in your presence...just soaking in another second of story and conversation...Not because you needed me, but because I just never wanted to leave! There is a light that shines through each of you in different ways...You all are just magnetic! There is a welcoming over your family like none I've never known. A uniqueness that cannot be rivaled or matched in all you are made up of. A goodness to strive for. A light you bring to every soul your eyes meet with. As the years have gone by this first acknowledgment I had in beginning has grown and deepened through and through.
I love you. I wish I could hug you and laugh at how you're taller than me now...but I can close my eyes and do that and know that someday I will see you again. I will. There is such a joy to me to know it wasn't the end 6 years ago. I still hate that it's been so long and hate that there have been so many memories we couldn't make with you on earth...but I know in my heart, that day wasn't forever the end.
I hope you still like treasure hunts because tomorrow we are going to go hide a cupcake for you! Cruzie's maps are a little hard to navigate so I hope you're up to the task! Haha! We will leave that one unfrosted in case an animal gets to it first hehehe!
I love you handsome boy! I miss you more than I can comprehend but I feel you just as deep. Thank you for always being here. I'll bake you another cupcake on your birthday in a week!! Xoxox! Your Baaaaal

Hey little buddy :) It's been a year since I wrote you on here, and it's amazing how time both flies, and can seem so frozen...it seems like forever ago you were with us.... and, just like yesterday all at the same time! You've kept me busy lately chasing you around in dream land while you show me the cool pictures of flowers you've learned about and draw to perfection! I know that you are stomping around heaven learning the most amazing things you can't wait to tell us! You are so smart! You always would just blow my mind teaching me something new you learned!! I love you with all my heart! I'm still bigger and tougher than you! ;) You're still cuter! I love you Lile! Or as your cute mama calls you, Li-leeee :) And I miss you more than how deep any ocean is..you are always a light in my life and to this world...you are a light that will always burn bright and help others. One day I'll be up there with you and you can show me how to make a pillow fort better than mine and we'll spend hours in pretend land again hiding from batman and Fenny's t-rex, and then later we can get on the internet and order Fenn a new "Sally"!! :)
