Lillian Watson Obituary

Lillian Theresa Watson passed away January 29, 2007 at Pikes Peak Care Center. She was born March 9, 1917 in Superior, Wyoming to Frank and Mary Ausec and was the youngest of six siblings. In 1920 her family moved to Colorado Springs, where her father worked as a coal miner. She married Rollie B. Watson, deceased, in December 1944. They lived primarily in the states of California and New York before returning to Colorado Springs in 1959. Lillian was a 1934 graduate of Colorado Springs High School, attended Blair Business College and worked for Mountain Bell until her marriage. She later worked more than 20 years for Sears, retiring in 1982. She is survived by her son, Gary Dean Watson. When young, Lillian was obliged to take on adult responsibilities, caring for her disabled parents and her three brothers, still at home. Nonetheless, she completed her high school education and then worked full time. Later, she resumed her role as a caregiver for ten years after her husband became disabled. At the end of a long and full life, when she herself became dependent on the care of others, she accepted the burdens of advancing age with dignity and equanimity. Lillian was a gentle and kindhearted soul, loved and admired by all who knew her. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Swan-Law, 501 N. Cascade Avenue. Services will be Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Swan-Law. A private burial will be held. Condolences and thoughts can be made at www.mem.com.

Dear Gary,
So very sorry to hear of Lillian's passing. We worked together at Sears in the Fashion Dept., and I got to know her very well. She was always so kind and helpful to me, and to everyone. Lillian spoke of her son, Gary, often, and what a joy you were to her. My sincerest condolences to you in the loss of your mother.

Aunt Lillian's kindness, thoughtfulness, and generosity touched everyone around her. She was always there for my Mom and Dad, bringing us vegetables from her garden and dropping by for a visit. She'll forever be in our fondest memories.
