Linda Burnett, 79, passed away peacefully in Colorado Springs on January 28, 2023.
She was born on July 8, 1943 to J. Percy and Sarah Rowe and grew up on the West Side of Colorado Springs. She married her high school sweetheart G. Lawrence Burnett on June 2, 1962, at Trinity Methodist Church in Colorado Springs and she lived in the city her entire life.
She and Lawrence were married for 59 years and had four children, three of whom survive her. Lawrence preceded her in death in July 2021. She is survived by her son Brian (Marilyn) Burnett of Birmingham, AL, and daughters Cindy (Jerry) Stidham and Melissa (Bret) Bernal of Colorado Springs. Newborn son Kevin passed away in 1971. She is survived by seven loving grandchildren and six great grandchildren, sister Peggy Marks of Tucson, AZ, brother-in-law JB Cox of McLean, VA and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers James P. Rowe and Leonard Rowe.
A 1961 graduate of Palmer High School, she was a great mom, homemaker, and an office manager for several area companies for over 30 years. She worked for the Veterinary Medical Hospital, Weberg's Furniture Store and several doctor's practices. For over 10 years, she was a dedicated volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House in Colorado Springs and was a longtime member and contributor to the St. Paul's Methodist Church choir and musical ministry.
She and Lawrence were lifelong residents of Colorado Springs and made many contributions to the community. She will be dearly missed by her loving and extended family.
Services will be held at St. Paul's Methodist Church, 2111 Carlton Avenue, Colorado Springs, CO at 10:00 am on Tuesday, January 31, 2023. There will be a private family internment at St. Paul's Methodist Church at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made in Linda's honor to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern Colorado,
