Linda Lewis Obituary

Linda, beloved mother, sister and grandmother passed away peacefully on February 12, 2014 in her Colorado Springs home after battling multiple forms of cancer.

Her journey of life was not one of normalcy. She enjoyed life to the fullest while being faced with many large obstacles, trials and tribulations. This is what made her the phenomenal woman she was. She immensely enjoyed her family, friendships, pets and traveling whenever possible. Linda embraced and pursued a spiritual path the latter part of her life, which facilitated her departure from earth and entrance into nirvana.

Linda is survived by her loving son Chris, brother Scott and grandson Christian. Christian had a very large impact on Linda's life as his entrance into the world helped guide some of her decisions regarding medical treatments and pursuing as much longevity as possible while dealing with cancer.

Linda was grateful and astonished by the support she received during the last 2 months of her life. Thank You!

A Celebration of Life will be held on March 1, 2014, 1pm at Swan-Law Funeral Directors, 501 North Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs CO 80903.

Flowers are welcome to be delivered to Swan-Law the day of the Celebration and / or monetary donations can be made to The Lander Pet Connection, 120 Chittim Rd Lander, WY 82520.

Remembering a Beloved Rocky Mountain Insight Meditator

RMI's dear courageous Linda Lewis died Wednesday morning, February 12, 2014. Linda, one of the most mindfully present people we have ever known, lived the Dharma moment by moment through four years of cancer treatment and the discomfort of physical pain most of the time.

Her conscious practice of involved dying, all the way from an ethical will to arranging loving care for her last days set Linda apart from most. Never hesitant to clarify what she needed and wanted, Linda was fearless in her open discussion of what she was going through without any drama or over-attachment to her story. Not that she minimized her dying process, she just didn't lose sight or the heart for the bigger picture of life as well as death. Linda still acknowledged and showed concern for the living, asking how our lives were and wishing us freedom from struggle even though she struggled endless moments of pain.

An inspiration of mindful graciousness and a true Bodhisattva, we at RMI honor Linda's life and death and will miss her sweet smile and strength.

My condolences to you, Chris. My husband and I have been friends with Linda for at least 35 years. She has been my confidant, trusted friend, sister, sharing our deepest feelings together, laughing and crying together. I am tearfully missing her. She was a one of a kind person and I am changed because of her. We were both fortunate to know and love her. We are already missing her but know that she is now living in joy.
