Loren Eberhart Obituary

Lt. Col. Loren Mason "Bud"
Eberhart
October 29, 1930
December 30, 2022

Lt. Col. Loren Mason "Bud" Eberhart (US Army, Retired) of Colorado Springs, CO, passed away on December 30, 2022 at the age of 92, after a 23-year battle with cancer. He was a strong, kind and moral gentleman with a great sense of humor.
Bud was born in Omaha, Nebraska on October 29, 1930, to Mary Leah Ethel (Kehr) and Julian Charles Eberhart. Growing up during the Depression and World War II, he worked on his family's farm to help make ends meet. He graduated from Omaha's North High School at age 16, then worked as an accountant for the Union Pacific Railroad.
At age 18, he enlisted in the new U.S. Air Force. After basic training, he rose to the rank of Corporal, then applied for admission to the U.S. Military Academy. He graduated from West Point in 1954 and was commissioned as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army.
In 1956, while commanding a tank company in Kitzingen, Germany, he met and married Patricia Jean Folkens. Transferred to Mannheim, the couple had their first children (twins) in Germany. Later, their third child was born in New York, while Bud was earning a Master's Degree in Mathematics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
After 20 years in the Army, including a tour in Vietnam, he retired at Fort Carson. Bud and Pat then started a Colorado Springs real estate brokerage that lasted nearly two decades.
Bud was preceded in death by his wife, Pat, and son-in-law, Ronald Beavers. He is survived by his three adult children, Barbara (Beavers), Douglas and William, as well as two daughters-in-law, five grandsons, and one great-grandson.
Following a funeral service in Colorado Springs, the body will be laid to rest at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver.
