Lorena Bennett Obituary

Lorena(Childs)(Lane)Bennett, 90, passed away, September 27, 2007in Colorado Springs, Co after a short illness. She was born Minnie Lorena Childs to Carl Lamont and Beaulah Childs in Cross Plains, TX on June 26, 1917. She is survived by a son, Carl Lane and his wife, Ann; a grandson, Chris Lane and wife, Melodie and three great-grandchildren, Micah, Christopher, and Shoshanna, all of Colorado Springs; step-son Dale Lane and wife Dot of Houston, TX; half brothers James Childs of New Braunfels, TX, David Childs of Austin, TX, Gary Childs of Merrill, WI, and half sister Mary Ruth (Childs) Newsom of San Angelo, TX; three step- daughters, Jacquie(Bennett) Geary of Clayton,NM, Jan (Bennett) Johnson of Cottonwood, AZ, and Judy (Bennett) Schroder of Missouri. Lorena was preceded in death by her first husband, Vernon Lane in 1980 and second husband, Jack Bennett in 2002; granddaughter Virginia(Ginny) Lane; brothers, Carl Lamont, J.H., Nuel Childs and half brother Donnell Childs. Lorena lived in Artesia, NM 65 years before moving to Colorado Springs in 2004. Services are pending at this time. in lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Pikes Peak Hospice, 825 Pikes Peak Avenue, Suite 600, Colorado Springs, CO 80903 or to First Baptist Church of Artesia, 322 West Grand Ave., Artesia, NM 88210. The family would like to sincerely thank the excellent staff at Alterra Wynwood and Pikes Peak Hospice for their loving care.
